Re: Dumping outbase maintenance

Despite what Gregg might want, it's really up to the VP of TechOps to decide whether or not Tier 3 maintenance is cost effective.
If you say so.
I'm sure Gregg will have that as his first job, if agreeing with Gregg wasn't the reason he got hired.

Re: Good AME position

Thanks for the cryptic post. Maybe a link to the previous job posting or a little information would make this news. If the job posting is anything like this thread, I can see why no "nobody suitable applied".

Take 15 min. go back to the "procedure" and look it up. Then get the proper tooling. Then make the logbook entry

Re: Saxon YVR 737NG ad

Neverblue sounds like a typical airline management all-star. As you say troubleshot, you can't take the time to look everything up, there has to be experience to back it. Looking up a "procedure" and following that to the letter will not even lead you to the source of the problem anyway. System know...

Re: AME Wages - AME's Unite!!

AME skills transfer easily to other jobs. If you want out of aviation then there is the door. Lots of people where I work are off to parallel jobs in oil and gas. A Red Seal designation will get you nowhere, just more paperwork. Your TC AME license is already recognized by other employers for it's s...

This is not correct - no requirement to land at the nearest suitable airport in a quad.
We usually argued the nearest "suitable" airport was the one where our cars were parked.

Interesting. I wonder if this "Stage 4" hush kit has been around long? Could it have contributed to the event in heavy rain conditions? Any MD80 people know anything about this hush kit STC?

The only way Westjet could get a B787 on short notice (next 12-24) months would be to purchase someone else's planes or as Giles pointed out, through a lease holding company. The only way Westjet could get a B787 on short notice (next 12-24) months would be to purchase someone else's planes or as Gi...

I don't suppose those "scabs" are just trying to get their airplane out of the facility? Looks like they are all wearing Canjet garb.

"but have found very few mechanics have shown interest." Mechanics don't show interest. We will just buy the right tool if the price is right. I will check out your website but my tool buying days are almost over. As far as I understand, a ford wrench it is just a crescent wrench but with a larger j...

Looks like a B 717 to me. I hope Boeing can sue their A** before it even gets started. Or do you wait like Apple and sue later and take all the profits after it is successful?

Our AME's ended up marshaling us in. Too cold for ramp crews, yet warm enough for AME's.

Once again, AME's save the day.
Yes and they will probably get written up in our SMS system. There is no saving the day any more.

I don't think he confirmed anything in that thread.
That's why I'm not in the TV business, nor the airline business!
I don't even think you should be in the internet chat room posting business.

Re: If you are a single or childless AME I want your opinion

It has nothing to do with being single or childless.
A comfortable wage now will not do you much good down the road should your lifestyle change. Get out now if you can.
Night shifts bother everyone.
They screw up your life.

Congrats on graduating.
