Re: Cat I medical & ADHD

Just use today as day one to never bring it up again. Diagnosed ADHD and especially if meds are needed is a no go for pilots.

If you are managing without meds then just continue what you are doing and don't even inquire about it if you want to be a professional pilot.

Re: Buffalo Airways - April 28, 2020 - Kugaaruk

But Buffalo is still safe because they haven’t killed anyone. That means all those annoying things like CRFI, minimums, and approach ban doesn’t apply to them. FFS. Here we go again. If half the other fricken companies in Canada had cameras examining every action the company and pilots take over th...

Re: Plane down

King Air crashed in Gillam. All okay. Was a medi vac aircraft from Nunavut to Winnipeg. I thought it was around 6pm that this occured. How did you get that info so quick? Assuming you weren't in the airplane... Lots of people on the centre freq at that time of day, so... How about you read the othe...

Thanks for the replies.

It's too bad most of the Flight Safety courses take place in the states for the mean time.

Do the majors even consider a loser with a pardoned DUI?

A friend of a friend ended up getting himself a DUI. He unfortunately for himself, was trying to advance his career in the aviation industry as a pilot at the time. He's a good guy and it was a genuine mistake on his part... Not that it matters in the big picture, it was still a bonehead/asshole mov...

Is Buffalo considering maybe converting one of their Electras to a fire bomber?
One is already in action and was fighting in Ft. Mac, two have been converted.

Harvs Air / Pilottraining ATPL ground school

Has anyone done this ground school and if so, how helpful did you find it? Pros, cons? I did the commercial ground school and that was an incredible help to my studying. I'm just wondering if the ATP ground school is as in depth and descriptive. The only reason I'm slightly hesitant is because I kno...

Re: Rudder pedals

Its a shame more guys don't get the opportunity to fly DC-3s and C46s. This topic wouldn't have even arose if everyone had experience in airplanes like that. Heels on the floor. You inadvertently tap the brakes on one side in the C46 past 40 knots and you're going for a ride. The DC3 is a bit more f...

The C46 in any kind of crosswind. Big fat body and misproportioned little rudder makes for some tricky conditions

Wicked storm passed over Yellowknife

An apocalyptic storm rose over the horizon of Yellowknife and mixed with the smoke in the air creating quite a spectacle that turned day into night for a couple hours.

Re: Pitts Lands on Highway in Yellowknife

I didnt see a verdict anywhere of why he landed short but it came down to a fuel pump failure. Ended up damaging the tail wheel on touchdown and damage was found on the exhaust. Not sure if the exhaust damage was caused by the landing.

Light twin meets arrestor cables

Last weekend I took the boss down to cold lake in the baron for the airshow. About 5 miles out, the tower advised me that the Arrestor cables were up. I was surprised to see it so far down the runway but I didn't have any problem landing past it. Seeing them for the first time naturally brought to m...

Re: How loud is an airplane cockpit?

In the C-46 we have to use hand signals for the rotation speeds, gear, and power settings just because you can scream into your mic and the props will already be overpowering any noise you try to make... once you set cruise power its not too bad. The DC-3 is similar but not as bad. If your worried a...

Re: Any Experiences With Vital Aviation, VFC, or Pacific Sky

VFC is a good place to get your PPL but as far as CPL I would not recommend it based off personal experience. I got bounced around between four different instructors because they all had too many students so I was paying a lot and not getting very far. I left and got my MIFR somewhere else and came ...

Beech 18s... are they operated on wheels during winter?

I have recently started a relationship with radial engines. When I first started flying I thought the beaver was the coolest thing ever and that radial engines were the product of pure genius. As I learned more about aviation I soon realized the downfalls of radials in comparison with more modern en...
