Re: Renewal ADBs Coming Out - Check Them Carefully

I disagree. Far better to have a piece of paper that only gets replaced when there are changes to it. A side benefit is less work for TC. I am still a big fan of the FAA pilot certificates. Easy to carry, no expiry, and more durable. No real need for it to be photo ID. If they really want a photo wi...

Re: Difficulty in getting a RAIC?

How is anyone supposed to know if they will be issied a RAIC or not? Or is there a publicly accessible, very clear and exhaustive list of things that makes one unacceptable?

Re: Lost radio ticket

You need to contact Industry Canada (I assume why it is not in the TC ADB...). I forget if they had a webpage or if it just took an email to get a replacement sent. No cost around fifteen years ago.

No, it is not on the website and there is no link to it. It is from the daily email they send out. There is no more to read, that is the entirety of it (at this point, at least).

Re: Multiple High Speed RTO's Are a Bad Idea

You can do a few tests before pumping it in a plane, but unless you travel with a chem lab, at some point you have to put it in a plane and see if it works. Kind of the point. You do some basic checks (water/dirt/debris/colour/clarity/smell) and accept it is correct and usable or not. I have never ...

Re: Multiple High Speed RTO's Are a Bad Idea

Look for water/dirt/barrel liner flakes before putting the pump in. Use a filter.
Why would one need to evaluate engine performance after fueling from drums of AVGAS?
If it was suspect would it not be better to figure out if it is good or not prior to putting it in the plane?

Constant wear life jackets interference with seat belts

Just something to keep in mind when flying floatplanes. ATSB found many tourism operators' ground crew (who were responsible for boarding passengers and fitting seat belts) did not know about proper seat belt placement and how constant wear life jackets can interfere. They do not say how to get arou...

Re: Conair

Would it be likely for Conair to hire someone with no MPIC/705 experience (but float/tailwheel time) who has the intention of flying Caravans/AT802s/Aero Commanders, and not the larger planes? Or are they pretty much looking for future larger air tanker captains and everything else is just part of t...

Look on TCs website, there may be a CAME relatively nearby that may work better than waiting to see someone in Canada.

Re: Self-flying plane in one-year deal with feds

I believe it's FedEx that's already doing trials with autonomous C208s and ATRs. 2017 saw a modified Pacific Aerospace 750XL fly. https://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-10/27/c_136710480.htm I cannot be bothered to look for it right now, but I saw a video when the news was first reported and I am p...

I know we’ve had a couple wing strikes but am curious if this is one I’ve heard of or a more recent event.
It happened on June 19.

As the most experienced pilot that day, he did not hesitate to take control during the sudden engine failure and safely land C-GIXH without injury to the other two pilots and with minimal damage to the aircraft. So...what determines the most experienced pilot on board? Total time? Time on type? Tim...

Re: DHC announces DHC-6-300G

I am surprised about the change from Honeywell in the -400s to G1000s. It seems like sticking with the same avionics would be simpler and easier. More tie down rings would be nice, but in order to support any meaningful amount of weight, the structural supports would probably have to beefed up consi...

The linked photos online show the aircraft on amphibs. Does anybody know if it was on the floats, or on wheels for the ferry flight ? http://www.twinotterarchive.com/DHC-6_869.html#N153QS_04092013_02 says in 2013 it did the Pacific crossing on wheels to Tahiti, French Polynesia then went on floats ...
