Air Inuit: Training Bond?

Asking for a friend who can't access the forum:

Does anyone have any recent experience with, or information related to the training bond situation at Air Inuit?

Thanks.

Re: Jan 2021 Mooney loss of control

8500FPM and 23000FPM in a Mooney. Roughly 84kts vertical climb and 223kts vertical decent. That's awesome. What is the cruise speed on a M20F? Maybe 150kts? I thought cruise was closer to 220 kts in those models. No, the M20F is still a 4-cyl model. You need to get up to the M20M 6-cyl models befor...

Re: F35

I've been following the competition with interest over the years, and haven't been too concerned on the 1 vs 2 engine question. While I knew the F-35 was basically a foregone conclusion, I couldn't help but admire the Gripen as a scrappy underdog. Saabs' offer of IP transfer and domestic assembly we...

Re: Landing at night before the lighted displaced threshold

I believe that it is legal, but the real question is why would you want to? The PAPI or VASI are (I believe) aligned for a night approach of 3°, or even 2.5° (which will be noted in the CFS). The displaced threshold assures the pilot of sufficient clearance on approach when coming in at the regular...

Re: Ugly evening to ditch

Hoping for the best as well.

Straight line from Ketchikan to Port Angeles airports is about 530nm. I don't know how this particular 170 was equipped, but that would be an ambitious leg on standard tanks.

Re: Is the Gripen E a real contender?

The truth is that comparing a 4th gen fighter to a 5th gen fighter is like comparing an early gen Nokia phone to an iPhone 12. Generally speaking, the public has no idea on the significance that 5th gen capabilities plays in all Fighter roles/mission sets. 6th gen fighters are already being develop...

Re: Is the Gripen E a real contender?

Personally, I like this scrappy little underdog. I don't have enough technical knowledge to know if it's the right fighter for Canada, but it sure does capture the imagination with the prospect of assembly in Canada, IP transfer, and lower operational costs. It will be very interesting to see how th...

I also saw a Facebook post today saying they're (finally) going to build hangars? Between that and the approaches, looking like a more and more attractive place. Just gotta win the lotto to buy a high(er) performance single now.

Re: Float endorsement

I don't actually have a direct answer about flying in N-registered aircraft and using that time toward the issue of a licence or rating in Canada, so maybe someone with better info will chime in. Having said that, if the scenario is you getting a float rating on your FAA licence and wanting to conve...

I don't have first hand experience with either organization, but both offer dual (or used to) on types you mentioned:

Re: Prepared? Lifejackets.

Thanks for sharing your story Jim - it's an important topic for float and wheeled pilots alike. I've learned something in this thread. I did my float rating 10 years ago, and I did Bry's egress training that year. I didn't know (or maybe I forgot) of the requirements for the inflatable jackets to be...

Re: Airports to visit in southern Ontario

On a good weather day, I really enjoy going to Tobermory. Very scenic flight up the Bruce Peninsula. The airport has loaner bicycles, cycle into town for lunch and check out the waterfront. Have some fish tacos. If you're going that way, Collingwood or Edenvale are good spots to stop or do a t&g as ...

Re: IFR PILOT/ tutor wanted

Just to be clear, you are seeking an IFR tutor or are you looking for places to do the training? In the Ottawa area, the main schools like Rockliffe Flying Club, Ottawa Flying Club, OAS, and of course Cornwall all offer IFR training.

Re: School for PPL in Waterloo, ON

I did my PPL at WWFC in the late 90s and thought it was great. So my info is dated, but one thing I will say is that it's a great field to train out of. You'll get experience in the CZ, but there's less busy airports close by as well.

Re: inrat required books

Sounds like you're generally on track. I just passed the INRAT last week. For me, it had been a long time since my last TC exam, so I had to get back into the books quite a bit, and I also took the Aerocourse. Just don't short-change yourself on prep time, and you should be OK. But to answer your qu...

Re: Tailwheel books? "The Compleat Taildragger Pilot"

The Plourde book was always regarded as the best reference among my circle of pilot friends when I started flying taildraggers a long time ago. There's since been others published, and I might also add there's some DVDs out there that some people I know found useful as well. There's one called "Tail...
