Re: Serious Incident FZ1073
https://streamable.com/2d1kse That's a video link to some footage inside the plane. *warning* it has blood so if you are squeamish, don't load the video. Apparently the FO tried to hijack the plane and stabbed the Captain. Both pilots were incapacitated and the plane dropped 14,000 feet in 30 second...

Re: who wants to fly for an European Airline ?
This would take me forever to trim so I'm going to lock it instead. It went off the rails almost as soon as it started because people have different political ideologies. If someone wants to start a thread about working for European airlines and what the working conditions are at those airlines, tha...

Re: Tarriffs hurting corporate aviation n pilots yet ?-
The really rich won't be affected by any of this. I fly corporate for fun and the owner isn't going to be reducing their flying schedule at all. In my other life I'm management at an airline that will likely be affected by this, but that's another story.

Re: Air Canada Captain didn't have required license
It looks like all you would have to do is forge the sticker portion, change (H) to (A) and the letters before the license number. The harder to forge laminated part of the ADB with the security marks (photos) doesn't indicate the license type, so you wouldn't even need to change that part. How do y...

Re: Sunwing B737 Captain fired for ordering fried chicken
Honestly, this is Brutal. Airline Pilot job started out, like the Skilled Trades today. You could say and do anything, and keep your job. Slowly, the employment pool became more saturated, and the rules involved in the profession, driven by Employers and the Government became more stringent. Now, w...

I took the survey and it's interesting. Certainly will come up more often in the future. I've been GPS jammed before - near Israel and also Burma - but haven't been spoofed yet, though I think it's coming.

Re: Corporate FO Canada
Most corporate management companies are pretty similar, and the quality of life of the pilots really depends on the owner of the airplane they end up flying. Some are great, some are jerks. Some fly all the time, some hardly ever fly. Some have schedules set in stone months in advance, and some chan...

News said the company is called Trans Aero Medevac and a look at their website shows only helicopters in their fleet. I think it *might* have been a heli that went down.

I'm starting to think this crash may have been sabotage. https://www.essentiallysports.com/nascar-news-us-secret-service-takes-over-greg-biffle-probe-as-financial-fraud-conspiracy-deepens/ Oh wow, that really has my conspiracy theorist side going. There appears to be a heck of a lot more to this st...

about a 750k catchment area with lots of high-paying tech jobs, so lots of people who have the means to travel for business and/or pleasure and who want to avoid the time-suck that is YYZ. Makes sense to me. I think maybe they are taking over the former Jazz routes with Q400s.

Sending good karma and a whole lot of love to the friends and families of those affected. What a tragedy. I spent an hour this morning drafting a company-wide memo about this accident and it sure was dusty in my office.

Let's keep things on topic please, and let's also avoid personal attacks. Warnings and banninations incoming.

Porter slides off the taxiway in YHM
A Porter Airlines Embraer E195 arriving from Edmonton slid off the taxiway at John C Munro Airport on Wednesday Feb 18th.
This is the second taxiway excursion in a week for Porter - they had one in YHZ a few days ago.

Transport Canada Guidelines define 3/4SM visibility at night with a temperature below -1C as HEAVY SNOW. Generic Type 4 holdover time in MODERATE SNOW at -16C is 2 to 9 minutes. There is no applicable holdover time given for HEAVY SNOW. It's interesting and noteworthy that the FAA HOT guidelines sa...

Re: Two CRJs collide at LaGuardia
The RJ that got hit on the nose was cleared all the way into the ramp via M. The other RJ was taxiing out for take off but was told to hold short for the inbound RJ at M. He read the taxi clearance back correctly, but it was a confusing clearance as the controller included "hold short of RW 4 at M"...

At the end of the day, we’re all people. And in this sub-context, we’re all pilots. Skill comes from training, attitude, and experience—not the logo on the uniform. I agree with you. I have hired lots of ex-military personnel, and one thing I noticed is that they have all been respectful, open and ...

It doesn't look so bad until you notice the gouge marks inside the cowling from the bent blades.
