Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

WestJet pilots are nothing but a bunch of whining babies nowadays. Nothing is good enough, everything is always bad. You guys are lucky to have jobs right now - every other group has taken massive hits and you're still left relatively standing. How dare we complain about the WAWCON eh? How dare we ...

Rub close together and get the disease over with, brilliant idea! Fortunately people with more intelligence, training and knowledge are making decisions. Insults get us nowhere. Normally I respond in kind but this is too important. I would appreciate any constructive criticism. Intelligent people D...

Threw is the past tense of the verb throw. It's the word you use to say that something threw you for a loop or threw you off.

snowcone wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 11:29 am How come an RP at air canada makes more than a 737 captain at swoop?
For the same reason a king air or Navajo captain makes more than a captain at encore.
Or, for the same reason someone will leave a $140,000 turboprop job, to make less than half of that as a FO at WJ.

Super happy for you guys! It’s great to take the lead on this sort of arrangement in Canada. Once hired - no more interviews, no more pay cut to transfer to WJ. It’s pretty sweet for a pilot starting at WJE. Do the best job we can now - support our guests and support our growth! It’s been a weird c...

Pretty clearly explained in the CAP.

It’s not if you’re in a radar environment, BUT on radar vectors.

I could have gone to Swoop while I was with Encore as a DOC and ran away as fast as I could knowing what all the work rules are. So I am genuinely curious as to why is anyone going now that there is even more information on how bad it really is out there. They are clearly the worst operator in Cana...

Previously they were offering 10 GDO's/month and 93K/year for DEC to start. That's actually not too bad, to start. Not sure why most pilots think they should all be making $200,000+. I fly a much smaller airplane than a 737, and make north of $120,000. I honestly feel I am way overpaid for what I d...

Re: Turbulent times for WJ ahead?

When the best thing you can say about your own company's admittedly negative news is that the competitor's may be worse, well... Westjet may have less exposure to Alberta than it used to, but it's still their base and bread n' butter. The mainline is a mature, plateauing company with the headaches ...

Turbulent times for WJ ahead?

Couple of quotes from a very recent news article, where Saretsky was being interviewed: "We have an agreement with Boeing to defer three deliveries. We are going to return three leased aircraft in 2016 and all six in 2017. We have 24 Bombardier Q400s, with nine more coming this year, and three more ...

Re: 777 captain for $175K

Remember WestJet remuneration is based on 5 items: 1). Salary plus O.T 2). ESP....20% of your salary can be put into an account and matched by the company. You have access to it after it vests in one year. 3). Profit share twice a year. Amount fluctuates and is not a certainty. 4). Restricted share...
