Re: question about upper air analysis charts
I was told that they are positions of reporting stations whose information has been excluded from the making of that particular chart. In other words....just there to throw you off :) Matt. To add a little more....the station's data that is circled was not used in the creation of the chart because ...

Or on the flip side, just cause somebody makes a position report doesn't actually mean they are there... All of you bc pilot's know what I am talking about  I hope everybody is ok. Get your eyes outside everybody, just because you make a position report every five miles doesn't mean you are s...

Criminal Negligance
I heard on the radio today that the pilot of the aircraft that crash landed in YWG could be sentanced as early as today. If anyone hears the outcome of the trial, please post it. I am really curious as to what the public (non-aviation community) has to say.

WOULD YOU?
As a tower controller of a Flight Service Specialist, would you leave vehicles on the runway for a few minutes while the position is unmanned for a relief break or to do the weather?

If you say "cancelling IFR" without saying "proceeding compay note", keeping IFR alerting is what you are doing. And that is why you are asked. Stating "cancelling IFR proceeding company note" is the same as stating "closing IFR". I disagree. Most controllers will still ask about the alerting if yo...

I'm not a pilot, so correct me if I'm wrong. But if I wanted to be a rocket scientist, NASA wouldn't hire me on the spot and start trainging me from the ground up. I would have to pay for years of university education, at great cost mind you, before they considered me. Why isn't university frowned u...

Re: YRL...should it be UNcontrolled airspace?
After having to wait thirty minutes (in freezing drizzle) fo a single IFR inbound to do a full arc approach (too stupid to go direct the FAF and turn left?) on 26, last week, I must wonder...is there not a better way? No radar coverage, so the controller wont issue a clearance off 26 with a "runway...

They speak french to each other, then when an english speaker enters the room, they switch over to english. Even if they're not talking to the anglophone. It's a nice gesture, and I appreciate it. Of course they're fully bilingual, so they can do this. That IS a nice gesture, but not all too common...

Re: ATC Services Above and Beyond
Just wondering on how everybody feels the level of ATCHow could an FSS be put out by being asked to call an ambulance at 2:30am? What the hell else are they doing at 2:30am, working busy VFR airspace? If someone gets pissy about it, a supervisor/manager is only a phone call away for you. Inexcusabl...

Are you for real?Adanac wrote:Is there a set of numbers that is reserved for "good" or "bad" flights? Kind of a heads up to the next controller who they get handed off to.
