Hello All,
Some recent life changes are requiring I find a 2 on 2 off type schedule. I would appreciate if anyone knows Canadian companies that offer this type of schedule could they please post?
Thx!!
Sigh another victim of A.I.D.S....

Re: IFR in the mountains
VFR mountain procedures are hardcore...especially if you are doing off-strip work. IFR mountain flying is no different than IFR 'prairie' flying. As llong as you stick to the numbers and the published information you have no worries. Transprot Canada is ultra conservative. That being said, if you do...

Re: Did you get into this industry with or w/o the wife/gf?
WITH!!! I don't care about spelling in this post. I was a second year student (sophmore). I told my girlfriend that I didn't want to pursue a career in my academic field and I wanted to be a pilot. I straight up asked her; "Are you ready to be a pilots wife, do you know what this involves, are you r...

Re: CANJET DOING GREAT!
Tibor, Are you really holding Canjet pilots responsible for the current salary scale? That seems a little inappropriate to me...after all isn't management one half of this dance? Of course Canjet pilots held out for as much as they could, as long as they could...do you think otherwise? Ya we may hav...

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?
Man, we are in the midst of the biggest recession since the depression and people have the gall to slag Canjetters? Hiring all but stopped at WJ and AC over the last two years. So a pilot takes a job at Canjet and all of a sudden they are 'lowering the bar' for all pilots world wide? F*** That and F...

Canjet only operates the B73C........for now. So any new hires have no choice but to be typed on th NG.
Canjet is the best company I've ever worked for.........I'd be happy to retire with them. This is a place where u r known by name, not a number.........and they treat u very well.

Re: Love Letter to WestJet Employees
OMFG A new all time record for weirdness on Avcanada has now been set. I made it to page 6, then read 26 and 27. I'm kind of surprised it took this long for such a prophet to appear amidst us haha. I agree with some of the Freeperson's ideas. I ultimately believe this to be a convoluted small econom...

WANTED: YVR crash pad for commuting pilot 10-15 days/month
I'm looking for an inexpensive YVR crash pad for a commuting pilot. Maybe 5-10 days a month. Not too picky on the details or setup, just the price (after all I am just another poor pilot :) ) I think something with other pilots would be ideal, as none of us would be there all the time. But I am open...

Re: question for pilots on vancouver island commuting to YVR
Thanks for the replies so far. I hadn't even considered the wind, but i now realize that would be an issue at times. Regarding the friend with a place to crash...it might happen on occasion, however I'd be very interested in arranging a crash pad/ pilot flop house. For all you pilot types living/com...

question for pilots on vancouver island commuting to YVR
I am considering moving to Vancouver island but I need to commute to YVR for my pilot job (705 airline type schedule) which consists of 3 or 4 pairings a month. I will only be able to commute on AC jumpseats(for flights) or the ferry. Can any commuting pilots currently living out there comment on ho...

Telex Airman 850 Tech. advice needed!! (d/heading ANR?
I need some electrical Guru to teach me how to get my Telex 850 ANR to work in the pax cabin. Anyone out there have any experience with this situation? Thanks in advance!! I own the Airman 850. I often am required to deadhead in the passenger cabin of commercial airlines. Most airlines these days ha...

Which Party/Candidate has most aviation friendly platform?
Anyone?
I just saw a brief blurb on CBC that the Tories want to allow 49% foreign ownership of airlines to increase cashflow to airlines...don't really know much else about the others. Is increased foreign ownership even a good thing?
I welcome all ideas and opinions.

Re: ...my BIGGEST pet peeve regarding ALL pilots and cabin crew
Not to hijack this thread, but it is slightly on this twisted subject... What is the best answer to evade the question (in a social situation) "Oh and what do you do for a living?" The best I've heard so far are: 1. "I'm in high speed aluminum tubing." (almost always met by puzzled gazes) 2. "I'm a ...

I applaud the posting of such a topic...that's what Avcanada is for. Of course the official channels for a regulation infraction can/will be taken if required... I...

19 or 20 work days a month, depending on if there is a stat. holiday or not. Not sure how many pilots...in YYD there is one full time capt. one full time FO, and one part time capt and FO. Cma is a great place to work, but it is highly unlikely that a CYYD base will be available. In CYXS there are m...

 I used to here this guy correcting people on the air, everytime he heard someone say "oh" instead of "zero" what a joke that was with the majority of pilots I knew and worked with I pride myself on proper phraseology, and yet I prefer to use "oh" vs. "zero" It is quicker, allowing for better ...

For both bases:
Five day pairings are longest, NO single day pairings
Expect lots of time away from home. I think lots of single day pairings exist in YVR and YYC.

Re: We are in the perfect storm
What I'm curious about are the vacation charter companies ie; sunwing, newair, canjet, etc.
Airlines around North America are in trouble and yet some companies continue to hire/expand. Is this sustainable? How are the vacation/charter companies going to fare in comparison to the skeds.
