Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
If that were true - close the doors. Most companies would cease operations PRIOR TO missing a payroll deadline. If the planes are flying, it probably is just a rumour. Not a rumour. The gig is up https://postimg.cc/94zdDNGC  As someone who has been on the wrong side of an airline demise, I fin...

Re: Socialized bidding
The system tries to attain the highest satisfaction score. Your highest priority bid is worth the most amount of points, and tapers down to the least amount. If you have a bid avoiding reserve and it’s worth 1,000 points, the systems receives 1,000 points if satisfies your request. If you get reser...

Re: Socialized bidding
Socialized bidding is preferential ie. It assigns pairings based on preferences as opposed to seniority https://www.ad-opt.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Altitude-PBS-Fact-sheet.pdf Thanks for that. I am more curious about the specific mechanics of it. So when bidding, one would list pairings, days...

Socialized bidding
I see Socialized Biddng mentioned on a few threads and, while I think I understand the general principle, I don’t know specifics.
How does it work? Does it mean preferential bidding does not exist at all? Does it result in schedules that are virtually the same for everyone top to bottom?

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
Primary consideration for joining Emirates is that it is a waste of time unless you plan on 25 years or so. If you have some idea you will likely leave earlier, don't go. An early departure will see you having to join someone else's seniority list and also discovering that many potential employers ...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
I don't know the details of the benefit package at Emirates but I have a friend who, years ago, had a sports injury at Etihad and was not paid anything for months while he recovered. You are a contractor so it you're not available, you're not paid. At least that's the way it worked then. I am not a...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
That's not quite true. Junior WB at AC has no cap, unlike the NB's. There's junior guys flying 18,19,20 days a month. Even a junior RP can work 20 days a month if you do a lot of DH'ing. At EK you sometimes (depending on the flight) legally get the day off before duty and after as 'rest days.' That...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
On average, you fly more at EK or AC? Anything above 15 days per month is too much. Definitely less working at AC. All hours at EK are hard hours. No credit hour system. So 85-90 hours a month and 10 days off certainly more flying than AC. That's not quite true. Junior WB at AC has no cap, unlike t...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
I got an interview with Emirates and I can't afford to live on Air Canada wages in Toronto or Vancouver Does anyone have an update on negotiations or should I assume these Air Canada managers are incompetent and out to lunch like their On Time Performance, bag tracking or ability to take care of wh...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
https://youtube.com/watch?v=h7u9B9EmxEM&si=1e-6KZ_kCBjMXMbz The only reason a few 55+ aged pilots came back was because they were laid off during covid. They are definitely going back to Emirates/Riyadh air. Don’t confuse a 55+ pilot going back as a ‘desire’ to be there versus the ‘financial need’ ...

WJ AIP - disappointing or not?
I am not familiar with the the WJ current contract or the AIP other than what I see on forums like this. At this stage the specifics are not out just yet so it is still a lot of speculation and guesstimating. I hope with the details comes greater satisfaction and folks can get back to life being bet...

Re: Canada vs US - economics & wages
Get stuffed. Stow the economic "we're not the same as the US", Canada in dire straights garbage. People are more than willing to hand over $80 for a crappy, dirty Prius ride to the airport and tip an extra $7, then pay $40 for an Airport Improvement fee. $20 for a NavCanada surcharge, $35 for a pat...

Canada vs US - economics & wages
Lots of discussion about the WJ, and coming AC, negotiations and realistic expectations. Significant wage and condition improvements are long overdue. With current market conditions finally more favourable for employees, including pilots, good improvements can be realized. Whether it is realistic to...

Re: Expanded bilateral
If I am not mistaken, Etihad operates to YYZ as well as EK. AC has announced YVR-DXB and WJ was awarded slots YYC-DXB but not sure if that is going to happen as there doesn't seem to be flights available on their website. Any new info on that? So... maybe 4 airlines? At any rate, I would say the onw...
