Took Bryan's course in 2002. A real eye opener.

The shock and disorientation was surprising, even with my scuba background. My passenger briefings weren't as short after that!

There was a pipleline route surveyed 30 years ago (or longer) which followed the Alaska Highway. Not sure how it got to Whitehorse, but from there to Watson to Ft Nelson to Ft St. John. The cutline is still visible from the air.

a little clicking around and you learn SPOT is a subsidiary of GlobalStar. Dunno if anyone else has had the "joy" of using a GlobalStar phone, but we couldnt get a signal 70 K west of lillooet BC, standing in an open field. Website claims this uses a different system though, and it is a pretty good...

Let's break it down: Excessive speed = reduced turning radius (two of my "facts") Insufficient climb power - evident due to the fact that the aircraft had tried to turn around in a box canyon (where we found it). Wrong valley? - ok, you got me there, I have no idea what the pilot's motivations were...

Heard that each "bag" is insured to the tune of $600,000. So probably not a big waste of money.

Re: Changing of Co-Pilot time towards ATPL??

Heard through the grapevine today that TC is changing how they count Co-Pilot time towards the ATPL. I'm assuming it's in regards to A/C like PA-31's, Be-10/20's, Pc-12, etc. which aren't necessarily certified as 2-crew, but sometimes run 2-crew due to ops manuals/contracts. Does anyone know any de...

I love how the press make it sound like the sky is falling. It had a small tear, which got worse with the inside pressure, so they turned the inflation fans off....

end of story.

Repair the hole... turn the fans on. Done.

Re: airshow

II guess the show will never be as good as it was in 2001 and 2002 I'll have to disagree with that. The best shows were in late 80's. Especially '89 when the Russians first came with the Mig 31, 29 and the Su-27. They also had the 6 engine An-225...which made the C-5 look like a dinky-toy (probably...

That's correct Redneck. Too easy to fill that up with 300 lbs, then fill the rest of the a/c forgetting what's in the pod!

Good for keeping the smelly crap out of the passenger compartment though!

When you are flying during in the daytime, and you have build-ups or isolated cells, practice using the weather radar. Try the tilt, gain and different range settings to make youself more comfortable using the unit. That way when you can't see them at night, you'll know what to expect on the screen.

you must have filled out the wrong application form. Yours was supposed to say "Air Canada", and in the box that says "attributes" you were supposed to put "I whine a lot".
