Re: DOH merge.

Duke has an extremely valid point.

DOH with fences is the only rational way to go.

Re: One list

For the 400 of you that did not vote... shame on you. You are almost worse than the people who voted to dispel this LOU. We know it didn’t affect you that much but it affected all the time we put into Encore waiting to join you on the other side. Are you suggesting that I do not have the right to n...

Re: BETRAYAL!

Was never a supporter of the one list as it was structured. Tell that to the 500+ Encore pilots who agreed to work under those terms, and whom are now SOL! .... I have in the past, and I'll continue to do so in the future. But let's face it, the way the one list was structured was an absolutely unp...

Which is the industry standard. Had that industry standard been followed here, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

There are indeed lessons to be learned from the AC/Air Ontario debacle.

Re: BETRAYAL!

Mr North,

I don't look upon this as a betrayal, I look upon it as finding its normal equilibrium.

Was always a strong supporter of flow. Was a supporter of the one list as long as Encore pilots went BOTL upon arriving at mainline. Was never a supporter of the one list as it was structured.

digits, I invite you to go back and re-read my posts. There you'll find that I'm not focusing solely on appearance. For some reason, you think I am. So what pay (specific $ value) did you personally think would provide enough incentive for a person to start acting professionally? You mentioned Jazz ...

That assumes the corporation you are defending has acted with integrity, which could easily be argued they have not.

But then again, that argument is for the WJ page, isn't it?

mbav8r, I'm fairly sure what your opinion is on the matter. Read the second last sentence of that last quote again. "I work for WJ, not ALPA" That should tell you something. The company hired me to do a job, and they pay me fairly for doing so. They have not treated me poorly (as a matter of fact, I...

I'd even go so far as to say that having the attitude of "pay me more, and then I'll start acting professionally" is an indicator that they're not only unprofessional, but have very little concept of what the word means (and most probably never will). I think you might not fully understand what it ...

Re: Professionalism

Salary has nothing to do with acting professionally, and having a professional attitude. Appearance is only a (small?) part of that equation.

How you act and carry yourself, even after a 12-13 hr day, is part of what defines you as a professional.

Re: Professionalism

I'm glad to see this thread. Even if it's been discussed multiple times in the past, it absolutely needs to be discussed on a regular basis. One thing of note however (and this is very subjective), is that one can act very professionally even if one is not part of a "profession". Someone referred to...

I still see that you are rationalizing your opinion, once again, by putting blame on people other than yourself. That's your prerogative, I suppose. I do find it apropos that a new thread has just spooled up on "Professionalism". Perhaps you can chime in and give some advice and mentorship to some o...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass

Not at all Impact. The other side of that coin is that as long as speeders aren’t pulled over nobody should be surprised at people speeding. Nor do the police tell people to speed because they won’t be pulled over. AMEX’s salespeople made a good amount of money telling crews to “speed”. Did the AME...

Impact. I can think of far worse examples of “special kind of stupid” than that. So can I, but that doesn't negate the validity of the example I gave. Even our Gov't agrees: https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/oca-bc.nsf/eng/ca02654.html I'm curious. Is a person entitled to not pay a speeding ticket just...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass

What I am saying is that you need to be a special kind of stupid to think this wasn't going to happen. Can you join a 24 hour gym and then move it? That's like saying you have to be a special kind of stupid to not read and understand every line of fine print on your credit card contract, and read a...

Re: ALPA phone survey

Good point pacman. I'd even go so far as to say that even if 10% weren't going to show up to fly, that it would cost $millions over time. That said, if 70% of the pilots were to ignore the call to strike and cross the picket lines, I think it would quite definitely show that the MEC is either incapa...

Guys, the strike mandate is just that. A tool to leverage a better bargaining position. In my time at Jazz back in the day, they got a 98% mandate and negotiations took off. Once the government stepped in and said you will be regulated back, the company took the equivalent of $15 mil off the table....

Are you going to try to sell me that flying a CRJ 900 at Jazz for 40K is morally acceptable, yet flying a Boeing 737 at Swoop for 55K is not? You have misconstrued the point. The Swoop flying contractually belongs to the WJ pilot group. End of story. Until it is negotiated otherwise, or there is a ...
