Re: Next few days.....

This started as a generally positive thread, intended for those who have been waiting patiently for movement. Unfortunately it has been hijacked and has degenerated into yet another thread on the entitlement of those who've had it all career-wise and want more. If those who have championed the FP60 ...

Re: Next few days.....

Just remember that the "lottery win" has a cost, and they are not bearing it. Both ACPA and senior flight operations management knew full well mandatory retirement was coming to an end and there was f**k-all they could do about it - senior members of both admitted that to me years ago. The decision...

Re: Next few days.....

You've got quite the "cheerleeding section" Doug Moore. Great work justifying the situation. I'm sure none of the 40+ YOS guys are losing any sleep over things, and those junior waiting in the wings can do nothing but watch......... I'm sure they're all revelling in their "extended run". Just rememb...

Re: Next few days.....

Duke Point DP..... According to your many posts, about the total doom of the age 60 rule changing, and how the pilots were so greedy that wanted to keep there jobs, and according to you, the whole pilot progression issues, was going to be a disaster, and on and on, how come, you are so up......now?...

Re: Glad no one is hurt.

I find it in good taste that NO ONE is posting any comments on this issue. There is no need.

We are all professionals, and as a courtesy, (because it could have happened to any one of us, and we know it), we give our fellow professionals every benefit of the doubt.

DP out.

Re: Next few days.....

Air Canada has 26 FO's and 24 Capt +- one or two, on the A-320 based in Winnipeg.

No movement there.

Re: Next few days.....

Early interim bid showing 50 slots open on the 320 YYZ, 30 RP 787 YYZ, and about 15 on the EMJ YYZ. Vancouver closed to new hires for now, as is YUL and Winnipeg. Appears to be a "bit" of an exodus away from narrow body positions. The 787 sucked up a lot of people. Remember early reports only. Four ...

Re: Next few days.....

Nearly 100 vacancies to fill tons of movement. Lots of new slots RS/LS on the 787. Retirements starting to pick up........rock and roll.

787 sim is going to be hammered this fall. A second one is in the works.

Next few days.....

...should be pretty interesting. A strike vote for the CSA's (good luck with that ), and bid 15-03, which should show a bunch of vacancies because of a boatload of 787-900's coming in early 2016.......hearing curious rumours about Jepps on the IPads within a week or so......

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

I wouldn't poke you guys if I knew you couldn't take it. I mean Westjet is truly a success story, and I'm not being sarcastic. Just trying to ignite a little fire in Dullsville....... Air Canada needs a healthy competitor. I'd call this thread a success if you can include a moderator "rolling around...

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

Increasing ASM's simply means they added capacity. While it's important to list ASM and RPM measure for load factor comparison. Increasing RPM's is not that hard to do. It's easy to fill an airplane. Price it right and people will fly. Making good money is the challenge. Asking how their yield did ...

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

I hate feeding the trolls, but the troll keeps begging for food. What do I think about AC's performace. I am happy. I am happy that my fellow pilots do not need to worry about being furloughed, will have their pensions in tact, and will not need to taste the bitterness of CCAA. Come on Bede....you ...

Re: Pension

It's all in "the plan". Know how to split a huge solid Oak log??? Use plenty of wedges.....wage and pension differences for similar work are wedges. Tap one in here, another there, and pretty soon, with enough of them......... the thing suddenly splits with a thundering crack. FWIW.....I know AC Man...

Re: Pension

Air Canada will never regret going to DC pensions for all new hire pilots. They're cheeper. ACPA caved..........its them who should regret it. As the years go on, and DC membership rises, the "stragglers" with the DB pension package will be in jeopardy. Great job ACPA. Its hillarious how fast the pe...

Re: Good news story

Judy was awesome to fly with. Great head on her shoulders. Who doesn't get the reasoning behind this being a male dominated career? I've got four daughters, and not one has a single shred intrest in what I do. Their work interests lay in health care, child care and teaching. If you think about it fo...

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

Im not trolling, or trying to start a fight, only an engaging conversation. My issue is that I have more than a boatload of Westjet stock, but I work for Big Red. I bought that stock on big promises Clive made more than a decade ago at a shareholder meeting just before AC went into CCAA........I'm d...

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

Q1 Operating Margin - WS - 16.91% - AC - 3.4% There are some good things starting to happen at AC, but when it comes to profitability, they rank the lowest of the NA majors. Where did you get that data??? Source???? Quoting percentages is nice, and looks good, but when your comparing it to an organ...

WJ vs. AC......performance

I'm hearing rumblings that Air Canada outstripped Westjet in ASM increace (year over year) by double, and increaced RPM over Westjet by 3 fold. AC also very nearly matched Westjet In Return on Investment Capital (ROIC)....total revenue at AC still 3x higher. Nearly 100 Widebodies at Air Canada by th...

Re: 767 cockpit

Does anyone know if the 767 leased from Boeing will have the 787 cockpit, I imagine this would be a larger expense but would also help with any transition to a 787 purchase as WS has stated the 767 is temporary? might even be something that Boeing may eat the cost on? How could the 767 have "the co...
