Not just a mainline problem by any stretch.

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?

We left CALPA because the “tail was wagging the dog,” the union was in financial distress, and that they had pursued a labour relations experiment (industrial merger) that went horribly wrong. I see a real risk of a retreat to CALPA. We could expect the c-ALPA Board to pressure our MEC to hand over...

Re: Jazz Recalls?

Correct. I’m not up to speed on that particular history, and to be honest, this is not an issue I’ve been concerned with since my commute is via Ontario’s 400 series highways. When the pandemic is in the rearview mirror and cash flows are positive again then maybe it should be revisited, but right n...

Re: Jazz Recalls?

Tell NACC that airline employees will throw their names and support behind the initiative if they agree to waive the airport improvement fees for airline employees going forward. It is outrageous that pilots and FAs currently pay the AIF and we all know that when travel does come back the AIF will ...

Let’s not go there.
This is kind of a meaningless exercise unless you look at the entire compensation package.

Re: Whats the deal with Class E control zones?

That would be appropriate if the FSS was a RAAS, but as the OP indicated it was a FISE type of FSS, this is not appropriate. There will be a traffic frequency that you make your calls on, that is not the same as the FISE frequency. The FISE is there to open or close flight plans, read weather, and ...

Re: Whats the deal with Class E control zones?

Class E is uncontrolled airspace with the weather minima of controlled airspace. Well, no, class E airspace is controlled airspace, with the weather minima or controlled airspace, as you might expect! From TC AIM RAC- “2.8.5 Class E Airspace Class E airspace is designated where an operational need ...

Re: Misfuelling Thread

IIRC Jet A doesn’t mix very well with Avgas but it does float on top. I suppose in a pinch you could top that tank with 100LL and hedge your bet by only using it for cruise until you get to a maintenance base. One is completely miscible in the other; 100LL is a fabulous solvent for degreasing other...

Re: MF

CYQA Muskoka is monitored by Timmons RDO, they need to be reminded it is class E not D or C airspace, they try to boss / intimidate VFR pilots around. They can’t stop a VFR from landing or taking off if the pilot deems the vis safe as your pilot in command and they can’t issue clearances to VFR pil...

Re: Jazz Recalls?

Agreed. We need to re-orientate our focus to convince the bloody gov to open the borders and stop euthanizing our industry for a small cut in the arm... NACC (National Airlines Council of Canada) is doing this. ALPA Canada has its own initiative. I understand that the unions at Sunwing are involved...

Re: ILS RWY 26 @CYKF , meaning of "NO PT" ?

.. from TC AIM RAC 9-16 - “The abbreviation “NO PT” is used to denote that no procedure turn is necessary from the point indicated and will normally be shown adjacent to the IF. However, if the minimum altitude IF to the final approach fix (FAF) is not readily apparent, the “NO PT” abbreviation may ...

Re: ILS RWY 26 @CYKF , meaning of "NO PT" ?

Simply means no procedure turn is required even though one is depicted and if you are going to do one (not sure why you would because the approach requires ATC radar or GNSS) it must be completed within 6 miles of the FAF DAXUN.

One thing’s for sure, no matter where it comes from, a bunch of thoughtless rhetoric is not going to help the situation. I’m going to try and make a couple of points that I tried to make earlier in this thread - We’re stuck in this mess together. Bottom line is we should recognize and respect the fa...

Not sure where I said anything about “bad people”. NO ONE’S stake in this is a...
