Wondering if there's anyone who commutes from YYZ/YUL to YVR. I'd love to hear how you make it work, what the schedules are like for more junior guys, etc. Are you able to bid pairings that begin and end with deadheads to YVR? DM me if you'd like.
Thanks!

Canadian Pilots in the USA
Well it seems that the predictions of American carriers hiring Canadian Pilots is starting to happen. Horizon had a few Canadians in its latest groundschool. Should Avcanada open a forum section labeled “US Carriers”?
Rumor has it JetBlue is planning the same thing. Can anyone elaborate?

Re: Training
All varies depending on sim availability, etc. For me the whole process was one day shy of 8 weeks. They flew me home (yvr) for every day off, no questions asked. You get your training schedule (most of it at least) on day 3 of groundschool and then you can write a list of days & approximate times y...

From which college if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering if they're now prioritizing diplomas from certain flight colleges?Black_Tusk wrote:I know someone through the whole process from PML 2.0. Aviation college diploma only and is waiting on a GS date.

Re: Jazz Reqiurements?
So that covers 2017, anyone with an educated guess as to how does the hiring situation look further out in 2018 and beyond at Jazz ? I ran into the guy who did my jazz interview in 2016 on the crew bus the other day. He says they've been running off their feet with interviews and have been told to ...

beaver1986,
These people getting interviews with less than 2 years, are they from Sky Reg as well? As far as I'm aware Sky is the only express carrier with the min 2 year requirement.

Re: Dash classic Bid
Black_Tusk is exactly right. However you can always have your standing bid to transfer to another aircraft type and it's company's discretion to waive the 48 month freeze. They've been waiving it a lot lately. Also most people are getting upgraded now within 2 years so there's lots of people changin...

Well I got this email last week: "Thank you for taking the time to participate in our recruitment process. No in YYC it's on Mount Royal's Alsim which doesn't even simulate any specific aircraft. Looks almost like a G1000 setup with torque read out in %. It's just a generic turbine aircraft it seems. Very straightforward.

Re: Application to first contact?
Approximately 6 weeks. I know guys that have been contacted anywhere between 4-10 weeks after applying. For those guys I know it was the lower time guys that took longer to be contacted.

Does anyone have any info regarding recent sim evals in YYZ? I've been told it'll be at Seneca College in Peterborough on the King Air 200 sim. Anyone have any recent experience with this?

CRJ Schedules
Hi guys & gals, For those of you driving the CRJs at Jazz I'm curious as to what kind of schedules you normally get? How many days on rostered per month, what a typical kind of month looks like.. How commutable is the RJ schedule in general to say YVR if based elsewhere? Can you bid YVR overnights i...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool
Hi guys/gals, I do apologize if this horse has already been flogged to death, but I haven't been able to find an answer in previous posts. The situation I'm in is that I don't think I can afford to go from my present position as a B1900 captain to Encore FO, but at the same time I don't think I have...

Re: Application Update Question
Where did you find the email address of the HR company? That might come in handy... The email address is of the person who contacted me to set up my first interview. It's not to be used to submit applications, and she probably doesn't want it out in a public domain. Fair enough, wouldn't want to bo...

Thanks for your input guys. I was looking at the job posting under "my submissions" and it says "Job Status: Active". So I figured the posting was still active. Application Update Question
I placed my initial application to the 'Pilot' job posting mid last year and I have no problems updating my "general profile" but when I view my "current job submission" I'm not able to update my info on that. Now there's a several hundred hour discrepancy between my general profile and my current j...
