Re: Air Georgian CRJ latest interview process
You forgot to mention the unrelenting brainwashing PR disciples of GGN whose sole purpose in life is to negate any bad feedback on GGN and censor it to oblivion just because they say so and because nobody is entitled to their own valid opinions :bear: This fact alone should bear notion to the type o...

Word on the street is that it was one of the cadets doing upgrade indoc who lined up with the runway edge lights and took off, hitting the lights.

Re: Georgian Upgrades
I've had a good long career, with a couple jobs better than others, but I don't regret anything, and frankly not everyone is in a mad race to work for an airline. I've worked in nearly all the facets of aviation, minus military, all over the world, and much appreciate the experiences I've received....

Re: Georgian Upgrades
To be fair, the op did question the state of the industry as a whole in his/her first post with the news of georgian's policy change being the catalyst.

Re: Georgian Upgrades
I should clarify. I was in fact referring to the Beech, not the RJ. And to state that GGN has a robust training and mentor program? Come on now. Some of their training captains are guys with less than 6 months in the seat, and there's no such mentor program in effect, anymore. They plop a 200h cade...

Re: Future YYC pilot base?
I don't get it either. Assuming: Rent 1700 Car 450 Gas 100 Food 450 Misc 500 =3200/month in living expenses At first year pay, minus tax that's what? 3200 take home? You net 0 after expenses. Change rent to a mortgage for a decent home? Now you're bleeding money every month. Granted there's many var...

Re: CRFI and Factors
Yes - a B1900 for example. Its AFM calculates based on non-factored values. I realize it can easily do it, but the concern would be the legalities. Wouldn't "the ground handling characteristics" in 704.49 (2)(c) pertain to taking into account the expected CRFI in the calculation with regards to disp...

CRFI and Factors
So this is confusing and very unclear. Say you are 704 operating a turbo-prop with reverse/disc. You calculate your AFM landing distance to be 2800' and the runway you're intending to use is 5000' long. The CRFI is 0.60 and no wind. Are you limited for takeoff?? From my understanding, 70% of 5000 is...

Re: The next PML wave
So sounds like Georgian is having the PML "take effect soon based on seniority"? Wonder if this is on top of the Jazz movement or if it's gonna occur after the original Jazz list is exhausted? How far in is the Jazz PML?

The next PML wave
So considering AC targeted Jazz's higher paid staff with retirement incentives and a PML in hopes of cost reductions, would it not be likely for AC to start looking at the Georgian, EVAS, and Sky Regional roster for a second PML? A buddy of mine at Georgian said AC is organising a meeting in the com...

Re: Worth the move?
By no means are those wages justified. Somewhere like Georgian pays out 57000 with per diems and 11 GDOs for starting left seat on 1900 (704). Starting right seat jazz sounds like it's 45000 and 12+ GDOs. That extra day adds value, say another $4000/year (36*9*12). So that's 49000 and then pension (...

Re: Worth the move?
Not a bad way to retire
Upgrades still looking around 5 years?
Wouldn't the profit share and pension make up for the lower wages? Plus in contrast to say 11 GDOs, having 12-14/month adds value to your paycheck as well?

Can't go wrong with a good golf shirt and nice pants. Anything 704 and up I'd go shirt and tie. Don't wear a pilot shirt anywhere.

Re: Sunwest Aviation
Though it is possible to go through the ramp program, you won't be going through with any real PIC time and will thus be stuck as an F/O for a while. I think the route they go is Ramp - Navajo FO - King Air/Metro FO - then PIC on something (I'm not completely sure of this though)

Re: College of Pilots.
Would the college actually lobby though? I can't see how simply upholding a standard of professionalism and ethics, which is fairly executed in the airlines already and which this college isn't even fully targeting, can improve conditions. They even state they won't get involved in labour disputes, ...

Re: College of Pilots.
With a government which forces pilots back to work when they're on strike? Something's not right here... Where's the rights of a pilot. Seems quite obvious that pilots hold a VALUABLE key to all of Canada and every other nation on the planet - economical. So valuable that countries can't afford havi...
