Re: Current domestic load factors

The dearth of demand due COVID related anxiety and travel restrictions has lead to a dearth of flights, a dearth of passengers, and therefore a dearth of meaningful revenue. This is well below previous ‘worst case’ financial forecasts for all of the CDN carriers. Present trends continuing will lead...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

As it shows right now for the August loaded schedule, it's "back to normal", at least for Sky. If that holds true across the board, recalls should be happening shortly. AC hasn’t released the winter schedule yet, usually comes out early August, so what ever you saw, we can be pretty sure it’s inacc...

I just read the CBC News article about the flight attendants expecting massive lay-offs. That's not all, read the part about the YVR - LAX flight today.

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours

Well, if we want to talk about rumours and add some speculation for entertainment, here's another one that may be related. Apparently, at the behest of AC, Jazz is moving 6 DH1 that were planned for retirement at year-end out west to cover off the the DH3 flying so that those aircraft can consolidat...

Re: ONEX plans

Anyone here think ONEX will sell off ENCORE / SWOOP ? And if only one of them were to sell which one ??? Encore IPO'd with a long term CPA from Westjet will provide a big pay off. It's been shown in the past to be a successful strategy of unlocking value. You just have to look south of the border a...

Re: Looking for assistance finding accom for layover in HKG

I'm making an assumption that you will be travelling on reduced rate interline passes/tickets? If you're going to Cebu and want to save money on a layover, consider changing your routing if possible. Thought about going to Cebu not long ago and looked at the options, one that worked out well was with...

Re: Updates on one - list.

What would happen if Onex decided to sell Encore and put it under a contractual CPA similar to how Jazz is under contract to AC? I'm wondering what the implications would be if that occurred with WS mainline and Encore pilots on one list?

Re: Gate checking carry on in Canada

All nice but if the airlines followed their carry on baggage policy at check in and actually checked to see if it fits in the devices at the gate, there would not be an issue except for angry customers who are told they need to pay for their baggage. Heck why not stuff your bag and carry it on, at ...

Re: New hire bids

Around 2 years plus right now. There wasn't much movement last year but we'll have to see what this bid shows. Rumour has it that we will be hiring OTS captains before the end of this year as there won’t be enough FOs in house that will have the time to get an ATPL and upgrade. Would that also be t...

So basically how many signed for Jazz, how many for AC? How many both ?
203 are coming to Jazz out of a possible 226.
That would be an uptake of 90%. If a small number are going directly to AC, that leaves GGN with very few pilots.

This is a large sale all at once for CMA?
Likely sale to cover off the Georgian flying out of Calgary come May 1st.

Re: Classic Dash replacement??

Aren't they just extending the life of the -300s? I'm sure a big enough order, and Viking would make some Q300NGs They are attempting to extend the life of the -311's, as it seems the -301s are kaput once the gear is out of spec. GSTA went in for its extension and lo and behold, ended up being part...

It will be interesting to see where AC goes with the Express fleet. Current initiative seems focused on increasing J class inventory on all of the 76 seat Express jets. Many Express aircraft now configured for 12 J class seats. AC is operating well below the permitted fleet ratio for Express 76 sea...

Lol, even the captain could possibly have no RAIC. The RAIC has no effect on board the plane, it's just for easier airport access. Yeah. I never thought about that... I guess eh? Don't I feel stupid now! ***bows head in shame*** Even though the COM says no RAIC required, nobody rides in my jumpseat...

I'm curious if anyone that's been around a long time can give me an idea of what the minimum requirements were 5,10,15 20 years ago. I know up until a few years ago FO's had to wait many years before they had a chance to upgrade to the left seat.

Re: Questions about Evas Air

The AC Express branding has been removed from some of the EVAS B1900's. Not sure if that is because EVAS does some non-Express flying in its schedule. Also not sure if the aircraft belong to EVAS or AC. Read in to it what you will. I asked a related question in the Air Georgian thread about the B19...

From what I've read elsewhere,Delta was not holding any production slots after deferring the original Northwest order which would have seen the aircraft delivered in 2017 and 2018.

It's speculation on my part that they keep files on all employees with anything that can be used at a later stage to terminate the trouble-makers if needed. It's very unfortunate that the perceived culture may not be that what is portrayed.
