Re: Taildragger Training

Thank you to everyone who provided information or got in touch via PM. I'm currently following up all your leads. I too think it's strange (& sad!) how little tailwheel instruction seems to be available these days - it opens up opportunities to fly far more interesting & historic aircraft than your ...

Re: Taildragger Training

Exactly the same question for exactly the same area..... I'm looking to build some taildwheel time on something like a Decathlon/ Citabria/ Cub but none of the clubs in the Calgary area have a taildragger for rent or even anyone who could do a tailwheel checkout. I know there's less commercial deman...

Re: FAA-certificated instructor in/ near Calgary

Thanks for the pointers guys...... reason I'm trying to do it in the Calgary area is I have free access to an aircraft there so that would make it much cheaper, quicker & easier than hiring a 172 & flogging down to the US. Haven't ruled that option out though.... I thought I may have struck gold whe...

FAA-certificated instructor in/ near Calgary

As the subject suggests, I'm looking for an FAA-certificated instructor in or near Calgary who can conduct a Bi-annual Flight Review. Thanks!

Re: Kenn Borek Antarctic Cause/Speculation Thread

Flying down there is very different from what everyone is used to in the real world....... In the real world, flying in mountains IFR below terrain without situational awareness is something that not done. I would guess that it is the same down there too. Mr Wings - do you mean "flying IMC in mount...

Re: Kenn Borek Antarctic Cause/Speculation Thread

I don't know what this plane had in it for EGPWS but the upcoming regs which should have happened a long time ago are going to call for class A TAWS (704). Which means a screen with view of the rocks and avoidance instructions from the computer. "Turn left" etc. I've seen big terrain mapping screen...

Re: Plane missing in Antarctica

So.... first post on AvCanada & I'm sad that it's in these circumstances..... I knew Bob from working with him on the ice. He was a consumate professional. I've watched him land a Twin Otter in conditions when other, lesser mortals struggled & gave up.... Bob made it look effortless. And what's more...
