Re: Will you be fully vaccinated by Nov 1st?
Well, safe to say a lot less then 25% of pilots in Canada refused the vax otherwise we would have been seeing a reboot of the pilot shortage. So, good news for the mandate, the government and companies. Lots of people are quick to get al...

Wow, photofly, your statements make no sense at all. I'm just giving an example of Ivermectin working. Not mandating it on anyone. The world doesn't revolve around CAN and the USA. This is a global forum. Just living in your bubble!! Enjoy your sterile life. Do you have personal experiences of Iverm...
Two people I know that got COVID...
We don't choose drugs based on cherry-picked anecdotal evidence. We pick them based on controlled studies.
This was just an example. There are lots of controlled studies, but are ignored by the USA and CAN, but excepted in Mexico. That is ...

Re: Ivermectin-Disinformation of the century
I have moved to Mexico over COVID. I have many friends that have tested positive for COVID, vaccinated and unvaccinated!! When you test positive for COVID in Mexico the doctors PRESCRIBE Ivermectin (in addition to a few other things). It is saving lives and reducing the hospitalizations here ...

Re: Career Change - wheels to floats
I just did that very thing a year ago. I had 600 hrs on floats from 10 yrs ago, which may have helped a bit, but very happy with the transition. I guess you may want to check out a few companies to see if they would hire you on floats?! You may have to live outside of the major cities?

How do these wages compare with a caravan float pilot? Are they or should they be in the same group? Seasonal and/or all year round?

I wouldn't mind working down there some day. Could you give me some insight on what the job was like in Fiji. Thanks for you help, sorry for the questions, PM me if you would rather do things privately. Who were you working for down there? Why did you come back? How many hours a month did you fly an...

I can see why the security clearance, but why must you have 24-60 months military experience? Does that help when you get shot at?

Re: Too much pic
I don't even get the courtesy of a call back. I'm trying to find a float gig, but with 6000+ hrs mostly multi PIC and with only 575 floats (from 9 years ago) I can't even get a serious look from a CP about a single engine float job?! I don't even care if it's back in a C206 or C185!!! Go figure. I d...

Re: Winter Flying Boots
I liked Merrell's Chameleon Thermo 6. Set me back about $160 at Sport Chek. I used them North of Churchill up to Resolute Bay. I didn't spend lots of time out in the cold ie. plane to terminal, loading the plane, avg. 20 minutes outside. They are light and comfortable, good sole, doens't slip on the...

Re: Police cars at Fast Air
I know Fast Air (specifically the non-pilot Head Nurse) were suggested by the pilots that if they wanted to keep pilots around that increasing the duty rest from 8.5 hours would help. But instead they ignored the suggestion and pilots move on for better jobs and more respect. If your unhappy, find w...

I'm with Doc and the boys. It's not about the money but the lifestyle (even though the moneys great). Home every night sure has it's perks. But no tie doc? Nice. Can't stand wearing them myself, even the clip ons! The Majors aren't for everyone, some pilots still like to fly, not monitor!!

Re: global report on pilot flight duty times
Mag1 I hope that management will listen to you. Companies must think that they will miss a flight if the plane is down to long to allow the pilots to get a decent rest. I have double crewed a plane before (12 hour shifts) but there was a lot of sitting around. But giving 10 hours of rest instead of ...

Re: global report on pilot flight duty times
8.5 rest on medivacs between 14 hr days is an abuse of the regulations by the operators. The on-call 24-7 is an abuse by management. You need to allow some allowance for rest. After a regular nights sleep 9PM to 6AM you do a short flight early in the morning, say up at 6AM. Come back to base at 11AM...

Re: I thought american beer didn't count
With all these young (inexperienced) pilots coming into the industry and moving up through the ranks so quickly I think there is going to be a greater need for a strong role model at the senior (experienced) captain/management level, then there has been in the past. e.g. (only if this is what happen...
