Re: The End of the WPDL Confirmed

My friends! I just got a hold of this video this morning and it clearly shows my skill under canopy from an incident on June 15, 2016, and is a metaphor for either ALPA’s ability to negotiate a CBA or the status of the WPDL when ALPA rolled into town: https://youtu.be/2IjvCJ-JJY0 I’m fine now, all ...

Re: They were going to lock everyone out and shut the doors?

I mentioned this when the strike vote happened but a strike vote is not a just a negotiation tool, as was repeated here a few times. It has real and immediate consequences to the company. WestJet was losing millions in bookings under the threat of a strike. Did the pilot group really think that Wes...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

The Labour Minister intervened to cause this agreement. Sounds like force majaure. Further, WestJet never intentionally misrepresented their offer to Swoop pilots. It was WestJet's full intention to have it flown by OTS pilots in order to extract concessions from Mainline. WestJet had no idea this ...

Re: Swoop offering yearly bonuses?

I know quite a number of good people who are now working at swoop and count a number of them as friends. Friends with families to support and who applied for a job at an airline that was advertised. If I hear of any blacklisting or agressive tactics against these pilots, you can bet the last time a...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

Not sure why at every airline I have worked at, Pilots think they are all at the top of turd island and should always get top dollar and be looked at as the highest level as of everyone in the company. Tough sh!t. Put your head down and do your job. You don’t like it, Go else where. You want to tur...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

We got the number 1 thing we wanted, stopping the furthur slide of our industry, preserving our FOs close to an upgrade their careers, keeping our flying!!!. hows this not a win?
I guess we'll see over the next month.

Wasnt the jazz status pay the will of the pilot group?

The way I see it:
Were in a better place today the yesterday.
We got our flying back.
The devil is on the details and we don't know what those are yet.
In the words of ice cube - today was a good day.

Re: Time to Stand Firm

John, How many consecutive quarters has WJ made money? We're in fantastic financial situation. Im worried about dumb decisions being made that will effect us long term. Meanwhile we are having OUR jobs swooped from under us. Seriously if we don't fight this you will be starting over again. But for n...

John, I've never had the pleasure of flying with you, nor would my last name have been as memorable as the crew of swallow hiscock.😂 that one really made me laughter btw. Anyway if we cross paths on a layover first few rounds are on me. Honestly I really do wish your passion was redirected. If you'r...

Re: Everyday at WJ : union busting

Hi John...the T4 is complete BS at westjet. It's the loud muffler on a Honda civic. Sure it's a metric, but only one. Lets just be completely honest here, the only reason you're fighting alpa isn't for any altruistic reason, it's purely because you're terrified of losing your OT. That's it. I have z...

Re: Starting a Pilot career in your 30’s with a family.

If this was 10-15 years ago I would have said no way can you start a career in aviation and not leave the GTA. This is a vastly different time. I have never seen the volume or quality of jobs that are available currently. It still won't be easy getting that first job but I think it's doable. A few q...

Re: WJPilotFacts.com

I would say this is about as polarizing as the swoop announcement. They would rather hire unknown pilots to train more unknown pilots then just pay us to do the job. It's going to get very interesting quickly.

One of our pilots was hurt on a layover. It could happen to anyone of us. There's the link. Be safe all.

Landing the max

Heard through the grapevine you guys may be having a hard time landing the max as youre taught to start reducing the power at 40feet? If that's the case that's wrong and will result in some tail strikes and hard landings. I wouldnt think about reducing power till at least 20 feet (unless you have a ...

The trainers and management pilots were most likely coming from wj. That probably won't happen now. This all takes time and that's something that's running out for swoop.
