Re: Only two replied
I had posted an ad. on this site and received only two replies, one from a non licenced pilot, the other an airline pilot that I was able to meet in person, my notice was " Fly for cost of fuel" I expected more replies from pilots in the CYXU area, The advertisement read that you fly my aircraft a ...

Re: Experience with Porter's Early Connections Program?
Destination Porter helped me get connected and eventually hired at Porter. I got accepted into the program after graduating Confed. Once you're in the program you get paired up with a current Porter mentor who can be used as an industry connection, they'll check in now and again to see how your tim...

Re: Tired of the Canadian Aviation Industry
I am an FO for a regional and run my own business on the side and still struggle to support my family in Toronto. I'm considering ditching the whole airline dream and going back to my software engineering career. Living beyond ones means is usually the cause of struggle now days. For example I bet ...

I just finished a book "Turbine Pilot Flight Manual" by Gregory N Brown. I think it does a good job of giving you a basic foundation of knowledge. Quick read and good info. E-book version is cheap too.

Apologies for the thread resurrection, but does the INRAT have to be rewritten if applying for an ATPL 24 months after first passing it (Similar to the SAMRA/SARON requirements)?

Re: Conversion
I'll bet there are a number of opportunities to get on with someone who has aircraft that don't require the IATRA to start. Sure, not having the IATRA is a negative. However, surely having 2000 hours Rotary is a much larger plus.
Either way Good luck!

Re: Flight Following (radar surveillance for VFR)
Just guessing based on personal experience, but much of the area flown in Canada includes a large portion without or with very limited radar coverage and so it was not routine in training or after to ask for flight following as most of the flight was outside any radar coverage. Just not a habit. Wh...

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up
I pulled figures off Airlinepilotcentral and threw them all together. Converted to CAD. Not sure the accuracy of APC's numbers (I don't think there are many premiums in there) but from what it looks like, after your 2nd year as an FO you're ahead of an AC captain. Feedback always appreciated.

Re: Confederation's Pilot Program
Tuition was $1,500-2,300 depending on the semester for 5 semesters. Did my Multi-IFR for $~6,000. Float program is "suspended" or something like that. To the original question, if you fail any of the written exams you're removed from the program. You would have to repay any student loans or whatever...

Re: Upgrade times and pay.
One thing to add if it hasn't been mentioned, not all open positions are offered in each ground school course. For example, the most recent GS had an option of A320, 737 and EMJ. No RP positions were offered. In the ground school you pick seniority numbers and then based on your seniority number wi...

Must be looking at routes west of YQT...anyone know if this is a port type base and how many pilots are they wanting to base there? Nothing official but this article: https://www.skiesmag.com/press-releases/porter-airlines-opening-crew-base-thunder-bay/?utm_source=skies-daily-news-todays-news&utm_c...

Can anybody ELI5 (explain like I'm 5) the consequences of Rouge expansion? I heard someone mention it will mean more days worked per month to NB pilots. I guess I don't understand the differences between Mainline and Rouge very well.

Re: Seneca, Sault or Confederation for Flight Training?
All relative in my opinion. Confederation is a 2 year program. Sault is 3. Seneca 4. Confederation you only get your group 3 IFR. Seneca and Sault you get Group 1. I would say Confed grads get the first job quickest (seeing as they graduate a year earlier), but Sault and Seneca grads have the chance...
