Re: getting a flying job these days !
When we were hiring new pilots we ALWAYS hired people off the ramp where we are based. We watch them closely and get to know them and then when time is right we invite them for an interview. : So, you get slave labour out of them, and THEN you "invite" them for an interview? Are you serious? How mu...

MIFR
Im looking for the BEST (not the cheapest, but somewhere were I will be properly trained) place to do my INITIAL MIFR. Since I have to keep working, it needs to be in Southern Ontario (if possible) Im looking at Cornwall Aviation, but I read on some older posts that its a good place for RENEWALS, bu...

Questions
Im doing questions for a Refresher Course and I am finished. I did, however come across some questions that left me with a few doubts. I am posting them here along with my answers. Hopefully some more experienced instructors can provide me with a bit of guidance. Thanks people! (Q)Must any paperwork...

Re: Any hope for new class 4's instructors
Students: free advice. You are the customer. Demand a class 2 or 1 instructor for your $55/hr - you will learn more, and faster. Im surprised that a guy like you would make such a statement. We all know the TC Instructor Class System is garbage. I know of a Class 1 that crashed, and two Class 2's t...

Rating Validity
When a rating is valid to the 1st day of whatever month, does it include that day?
Example:
Valid to Sep 1st, 2010. Can you exercise the privilege of the rating until the end of that day (Sep 1st in this case), or is that day the cutoff?
Thanks!

Re: Circling Approach in VMC
I agree with Flapless, of course we are talking in theory here. If the weather is VFR, just go for a visual, but my question is about the legal requirement when you see a non-standard circuit published. Are you allowed to use whatever side its more convenient and safe for your "circling" procedure o...

Re: Circling Approach in VMC
Thanks Donald, yes I am talking about conducting a circling approach in VMC (where there could be a C150 in the published circuit as per CFS) I know circling restrictions are shown in the charts, but why is circuit pattern direction sometimes shown? Is it for when you arrive in VMC? If you have to c...

Circling Approach in VMC
Is circuit pattern direction consider a "restriction" to a circling approach? For example: In the approach plate is says "Runway 03, right hand circuit" Do you have to conform to this direction, even though you are not in the "VFR circuit" (probably a lot lower than VFR traffic) or can you just arra...

Procedure Turn Question
This question does not apply for aircraft being vectored or where "NoPT" is stated on the IAP. If you are in a position to intercept the Final Approach at the right altitude and configuration on the I/B track, are you still required/expected to perform a PT (even though a reversal would make no sens...

Re: New Licence Booklet Question
It should go in the next available spot in the appropriate section. If an AP has authorized a rating or license then it should go over that 'position' http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/personnel/booklet/menu.htm#labelinsertion Right, that's what I thought, and that's why there is 1 availabl...

New Licence Booklet Question
I was wondering if anyone has any idea about these "label insertions" I originally received a licence with a PPL on it (this was printed, not a sticker) found on page 3, which is the first available space. Now my question. Where does the CPL sticker go? I was told by some to put it on top of the pri...

I understand that, however there is no way that so many instructors have the exact same format. Either one made it up and everyone else copied it, or this specific format was found in a book/guide that I cannot locate. That was my original question.

Re: Multi Flight School in Toronto area
I went to Toronto Airways for my Multi Engine Rating. Day 1: They made me watch a "safety video". The instructor played the video and I ended up paying something around $80. Day 2: Circuits. I got charged 0.6 for the walkaround. Worst circuit instruction in the world. Day 3: Waited 45 mins for instr...
