Re: Are fuel gauges considered engine instruments?

I have a question. Are fuel gauges considered engine instruments? Or are engine instruments things like oil pressure, oil temp, torque, ITT, and Ng? Fuel quantity gauges, no, not engine instruments. Fuel Flow gauges, yes, engine instruments. In terms of technical logs for your aircraft per CAR 605....

Read the rest of the ad, it also appears to be an internal posting: “The following full time position is open for qualified employees of Transwest Air, Snowbird Aviation Services and West Wind Aviation to apply for in our La Ronge Location“ When you go to the and on their hiring page, it also says t...

Re: help with 703 training exams

It's more on the line of "what will the inspector accept"? If I see others then I know what they are expecting as they won't give me any feedback on what is acceptable and what is not. If you haven’t got it, make sure you have the Transport Pub TP 4711 Air Operator Certification Manual. That’s what...

Re: help with 703 training exams

Are you asking for someone else’s training material because you don’t believe the training is relevant or important? That’s not a good look for an Air Operator and public safety. Your training exams should be based on your training material not someone else’s. Your COM, your SOP’s, your fleet. Build...

It’s illegal to discriminate based on age, Canadian Human Rights Act. If there’s a bonafide and legit reason then there are exceptions.

I know many 18-19 year old CPL holders that have been hired to fly.

I guess that just proves that my "Threads" on this forum organizing accidents by type(such as Long Landing Thread) can be useful to anyone looking for accidents with a common trait(someone claimed it was ruining the board). Re: "VALID" Group 1 IFR rating ( inlusive of the IPC - instrument proficiency check)

Quick question and direction, finished all my IPC training and next is the “flight test”. Just got hired by an operator flying twins and they’re going to be training me for the PPC on their aircraft (12.500 and under). Should I spend the hundreds on getting the IPC at the school where I finished th...

Re: PPC Piper Navajo 350 (Training times?)

Sounds like this might be your first commercial job, good time to start getting more familiar with the regs and standards that apply to your chosen career, this could be a good exercise for that. You’ll need that skill at some point in your future. Assuming this is a 703 air operator, 723.98 holds t...

Re: Adding a plane to the fleet past calendar TBO

Call your PMI and pitch it at them, but do your math better first and have a far better plan than just to look at the engine for corrosion before buying it. Also make sure you have a good handle on your proposed maintenance schedule for this aircraft, and a plan for what to do when you get it online...

I finally heard back from a 705 ops (Lynx) I applied to, I was super pumped. Has anyone had any luck with rescheduling the virtual interview meeting? Mark Anthony Group’s ad on indeed.com shows this pays “from $69,000”. On call, full time, plus what the job says. KF Aerospace is advertising for apprentices on the same page starting at $32.13/hour, full time, weekends as needed. 40hrs/week = 2,080 hrs per year. KF’s apprentices working full time w...

Re: Future AME

I can’t speak to Air Canada as I don’t know how progressive they are with license attainment, but basics for an AME license, with your posted options, are: 1- centennial college, which gives you 18 month experience credit and qualify you for the knowledge portion. Following this, you get a job, and ...

With the new CARs duty regs coming into effect for 704 in Dec 2022, I'm wondering if anyone knows what flight depts are planning on doing for scheduling. Specifically regarding 700.119: An air operator shall provide each flight crew member with the following time free from duty: (a) at least 36 con...

703 operator? The training standard in terms of hours is in Standard 723, Table I as well as the Air Operators COM. Table 1’s minimum for initial training on that type of airplane is 7.5hrs ground, 3.0 hrs of flight time. The PCC evaluation flight is in addition to the 3.0 min hours there. What do t...

So if part-time it looks like you basically need 7200 hours logged to make the equivalent of four years full-time, minus any reductions for course credit. Can a log be started before taking a course? I’ve seen apprentices that started as shop hands and moved into an apprentice role before taking th...

The likely reason those aren’t freely available is that they’re a paid subscription service to access them. I don’t think the PC-6 is as popular in Canada as you might think. There are a total of only six PC-6 on the Canadian aircraft register under 4 owners, and two AMOs with the PC-6 on their rati...

Re: services, minor repairs vs major repairs

Servicing is defined in CAR 101.01 if I recall correctly. It’s cleaning, lubrication and replenishment of fluids without requiring dismantling to do so. Think fuelling, adding oil, greasing some areas, servicing oxygen. If you work for a 700 series AOC there’s training required 101.01 also has defin...
