Re: Landing Before the Displaced Threshold

There's an airport I know of with a displaced threshold, 1095' displaced due to a large grain terminal on the approach. When said runway is icy, that displaced threshold makes the runway go from 3300' to almost 4500', giving more of a safety margin.

Re: Canwest Air

Just had a request for an interview, on site, from out of province. I suggested we interview via computer first. It wasn't indicated SIM was involved in a few back and forth emails. They cancelled. And before it's suggested I don't know how Canadian aviation works, that's exactly why I wanted to co...

From what I've heard, you may as well go to Encore, atleast there you're not bonded for your first born, and can leave whenever you please.

Re: Canwest Air

KNZ - The management team at Canwest is top notch, they work extremely hard to ensure they look after their employees. With that being said they have high expectations of their people as well. I have seen different platforms with people making bash posts about the management and it is disappointing...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

80 km/h is not highway speed and its pretty easy when he stands at his gate. its pretty sad that you're on avcanada, a forum for the industry, bitching about an industry you know nothing about. Im sure you have much better things to do in your free time (or retired life) than to worry about an airpo...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Actually, yes Sean, on departure the landing lights will be pointed up, therefore, not in your windows. DA used to threaten with a gun gesture with his hands, had F U PADC carved in his back grass, oh right also tried to blind aircraft by bouncing the sun off a mirror and directing the beam at aircr...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

Im sorry, but at 1000' above ground level, landing lights are not shining in peoples windows from a 172. Give your head a shake, a car driving down the road with its high beams on will put more light into your windows. Dont forget, theres much bigger planes flying over that area going to leduc regio...

Re: Project: Parkland Airport - West of Edmonton

As well Fine Day to Fly, or D.A. for short, it is not possible to do 98 circuits, in 4 hours, so you must have that big green dumpster out front of your house full of bullshit. These are students, where an average circuit for a student takes 6-8 minutes, so even if the entire fleet was flying, your ...

theres nothing wrong with a class 4 instructor, we all started somewhere, find an instructor you get along well with, wont bullsh*t you, and will find the correct answer for you if he/she doesn't know. There are some really good Class 4 instructors out there.
