Re: First Fire

Had an email from a friend who was up there the same day. He had a chance to talk with someone in the know and they are on there way to BC. From there, I am not sure where they are headed.

Cheers.

Re: First Fire

Looks like the fires are making there way north and west! (yes I know Alberta has had some too). So I guess we will have our turn here in Sask very soon!

Re: First Fire

But are these fires that you have actually dropped a load on or is it something that ground crews took care of?

Cheers.

First Fire

Any bets on where the first fire of the season will be? :smt017 I am curious to see who will action the first fire. So... that being said, any of you tanker pilots out there get your first fire, post it up (with picture if possible). The first one to do so we will call the winner. Have a safe summer...

Re: instructor rating or multi IFR?

Having done all of the above in my career, the best recommendation I have seen and agree with is the CPL then Float then get a job. Not just your endorsement, but a full on float course where you have some time that a company could insure you with. Or at least enough time where you could build enoug...

Re: Lake or Trees?

This one can have so many variables that you could spend a long time discussing it. My major point is to go do a polar bear swim. Put on clothing that you would normally wear on a day when the ice is just off or about to come on the lake and then jump in! That for me made my choice for trees or lake...

Re: Sandy Lake Seaplanes

I flew for T&T back in the Air Sandy days. They picked me up just at the right time and I owe them a lot! You will learn a lot about flying floats from those two! They know their stuff. Up front, honest, and they make sure you are well taken care of. I would not have issues working for them again. W...

Cheers!

Re: The Flightdeck - YYC

I agree with the aviation themed comments but at the same time, this area is desperately short of family restaurants and having any addition to this market is welcome, although they are lacking a childrens menu. Family restaurant? What family would not want to go to a place where all the pilots han...

Re: The Flightdeck - YYC

Went there with some buddies the other night. Really nice place.. but something struck me as odd once I was inside. Being owned by pilots and it being called "The Flight Deck" one would expect some sort of "aviation" theme once you were inside. NOPE. Not a plane, sign, poster, or anything to do with...

Isn't there a Mallard out there with hardpoints under the wings for Jetskis? The Turbo Mallard would be an excellent retirement RV! Hope the bring it back too!

Sorry,,, just dreaming!

Re: Commercial Transport Canada Written Exam Tips??!

Ha ha.. Ok Cat... Yes I have written tests where all of the questions did make sense. However, on those questions that normally seem to come close to the end of your exam and at the point when one's brain is feeling more like scrambled eggs than a fine tuned machine, the reading the question backwar...

Re: Commercial Transport Canada Written Exam Tips??!

Don't forget the most important possible answers if you are not sure of the correct answer, (and this goes for most MOT exams!); a. Answer C b. Pick the longest answer. c. The Minister says so.. d. The PIC e. all of the above If you get one of those in the choices.. odds are, that's the one you want...

Re: F-4 Phantom vs F-22 Raptor

This may be the perfect thread to post this question to all the F-4 fans out there; I heard a rumour that when they were doing aerodynamic testing on the F-4, they happend to put the test model in backwards and without realizing it, started up the test. All of the test readings came back better than...

Hey there, I am a Confed grad and also had the chance to go to Soo for a year too. Confed is a great school and you won't go wrong by going there. Any of the flight training schools are good, but you will have to work hard to stay. I went there with my PPL in hand already, so my first two semisters ...

May I suggest to all of you that you simply give them a call. Everyone there is great and if they have the time, they can answer all of your questions. Sorry I missed out on this thread for so long! I had the chance to attend both Sault and Confed. How is that possible? Well, when I first applied to both, I was accepted at Sault and turned down by Confed. So being the only school that accepted me, off I went. Needless to say after walking the halls...

Thanks,

I am guessing a float time would be a plus. As for income, I would imagine it would be on par with those that fly the PC-12s?
