Company Ideas
Looking for possible job ideas in the Winnipeg, Manitoba area. I'm interested in something based out of Winnipeg where I can commute from home for every flight. What type of jobs are available that fit this description? New in town. I have a current ATPL, 4000 hours with about 1000 Multi all PIC. Ev...

Trainee back pay
So I've heard rumors that there will be an allowance for trainees of approx 30K/year back dated to Jan 1, 2016. I'm wondering if this rumor has truth or if anyone has gotten back paid for their time training yet? I was training Jan/Feb and was an employee for awhile before getting released from the ...

Re: ITA Study Material Vs. Exam
The exam used to be multiple choice/true false, but not anymore. The ITA for IFR and VFR courses has a lot of fill in the blanks, some MANOPS definitions, long answer and an array of other types of exam questions with a few MC and T/F thrown in. Know your stuff, know it well, memorize all, yes all o...

Re: Pay Ranges given on Take Charge site
This is quite a long and complicated question to answer. Generally FSS get's paid the least, then Tower, then ACC.
If you go to CATCA.CA and find the Collective agreement you can see a lot of numbers in there. Then you need to search the forums to find out how to interpret some of what it is saying.

Then browse through arrivals & departures.
And note down all the types of aircraft & operators + designators & call signs.
Great resource suggestion. Didn't even think of that. Thanks.

List of most common aircraft and operators seen by ATC
Just leafing through the "Air Traffic Designators" Manual. I know the type of aircraft and operators will vary widely for High vs. Low En Route and even by Region. I'm looking for a list of something like the top 100 most common aircraft and 100 most common operators for both the High and Low En Rou...

Re: Tips for the VFR/IFR ITA Exam
Curious when you guys got your ITA material after your phone call for the course. I got the phone call and accepted, got an acceptance e-mail and offer package is in the mail. I was told the ITA would be online and I would receive an e-mail with a password. Thought this would arrive along with the a...

Tips for the VFR/IFR ITA Exam
There is a chance that I may be selected for a course with only 2 months to study for the ITA exam. In the event this happens I would like to be prepared as possible. Are there any tips for material that I could look at to at least get a head start? That way if I am selected and the material shows u...

YWG October 30 Testing
I know there were about 50 Candidates that went through the testing in Winnipeg on Oct. 30. NavCanada will never tell you where you rank, but if we collaborate our dates of green lights/interview offers as a group we can get an idea of where we stand in the pool. If you don't want to post, just PM m...

W-Sim Preparation
Is it my imagination or is the prep shorter than it was before? For some reason when I had printed out the sample examples I thought there were two scenarios with 6 questions each. My basement was flooded and I lost the original printout. Now when I open the PDF on the takecharge site there is one s...

Re: In-Person Test Fail
Last year I made it past the in-person written, passed the phone interview, and then was phased out after the in-person interview which myself I thought went very well. It was devastating, but here I am again getting ready for the in-person written which I was invited to for a second time. If it's s...

I know for the initial half day of testing there is no authorized study material and everyone says you don't need to study. Applying for Air Traffic Service
I am thinking about the application process for ACC. As it stands, financially and other circumstances, I am not able to start my training for at least a year in which there would be a very nice window of opportunity for me. This is my question: If I start the application and assume I make it to a p...
