Re: Are Encore pilots aware they are accepting 705 wages below PC-12 & King Air captain rates?
I don't think anyone is seriously saying northern medevac is better than Encore. Encore's pay went from, by far the worst Q400 pay in north america to tied for the worst Q400 pay in north america. Porter's base pay was good 8 months ago, but has since fallen to the bottom. That's what Encore chose t...

Yes, a perfectly safe airline. Re: 1900D to mainline or regionals?
All good advice. As someone who has thousands of hours on a 1900, it is a great plane and will provide you some invaluable PIC time eventually. However, you have clearly said your goal is to be at an airline. Seniority is EVERYTHING. Take the jobs that will get you to WJ/AC/Porter the fastest and f...

Weekends don't matter very much until one has school age kids. Kids get weekends off, and if the pilot parent wants to spend time with their offspring, they'll want weekends off too.

Will you need to commute for AC, but living at your base for Porter?
Commuting sucks. Even more when junior.

Doesn't Wareen Buffet own them? Guess he didn't go bankrupt paying his pilots properly.

Re: Rise Air 705
I'm not sure why pilot utilization is lower today. It's a general industry trend across all 704/705 lite. 1000hrs a year is the current limit, but that's still only 5.5hrs a day working 15 days/month. Not a whole ton of flying. Is it a lack of support and pilots are wasting duty time on tertiary du...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024
Should keep the Swoop table on as a reminder for future reference that someone whored their selves out for less than 100k/yr to fly a 737. Agreed, It's perfect for the next low cost carrier to reference so they know just how little pilots will actually work for and to remind the current ones how fa...

Re: Why everyone runs to AC?
"smooth"'s post isn't wrong in the context of the turd that is Canadian aviation. AC is generally considered to be the shiniest of the turds.
On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a pool of 1s, 2s and 3s, but AC is a 4. Still bad, but among the best of the worst.

Re: Agreement in principle reached.
That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Jazz couldn't get a bigger FO raise, because then AC would be paying FOs less than Jazz. Sounds to me like a great reason to pay everyone more. If the Q400/regional pilots are making good money, that encourages the 737/NB/mainline to ensure adequate pay bump. My...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.
I was hoping for better than this. It's great that the contract has seen language improvements and other gains, but the pay seems like a missed opportunity in the current environment. CDNpilotpayRegionals2.JPG Also, one comment about your chart. The colours are nice, but jazz showing “green” best p...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.
I think this will pass. Most pilots, current and future, aren't looking to make a career out of Encore. For that reason I think they will take the pay raise now and leave as soon as they're able. Like they were planning to begin with. How long until every Encore pilot flows to mainline? Granted ton...

Looks like Porter Q400 captains are due for another benchmark. How is that non-union flexibility working out?

Re: Fill 'Er Up
Not saying what happened here with the following statement. A common error with fancy fuel computers is to order the fuel. 20 minutes later, hop in the plane, enter "3000" in the computer, takeoff and go flying. Nobody actually looks at the fuel gauges. Any fuel checks prior to departure are done by...

The pay should be for one's expertise and experience. Who cares what type of airplane it is. Wanna pay me 300k to fly a 172? Sure!

Re: Job Requirements In Ads
The type of hours matter quite a bit too. A 2000hr PC-12 FO is a great candidate for PC-12 captain, but not likely to do well in a Q400 left seat.
