Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )
Metros are shitty planes operated by shitty companies in shitty conditions with shitty pilots. Bit of an insult to say shitty pilots. Maybe pilots with shitty training due to working for shitty companies and a lack of good Metro sims. Lots of excellent pilots have flown Metros. The only reason King...

Re: Poor condition of runway surfaces as a cause of plane crashes
There are tons of accidents and incidents related to runway condition. Unfortunately I don't think they are easily sorted this way. Go to the TSB and NTSB websites and just start searching through reports.

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
haha, the negotiation is: I'm not coming to work for you anymore. The end. The funniest thing is when a company requires certain notice for a resignation. There is no legal standard. No more than the notice required when someone is fired. Quitting "effective immediately" might burn a reference, but ...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
I think the moral of the story is don't trust AC (or really any corporation). They'll lie and cheat if it's the best option they see available. Their word has no value. Look after for yourself and your fellow pilot. Act with honesty and integrity, but understand it's a one way street.

Re: 704 CA or 705 FO ?
All of them. At the end of a recession, when hiring picks up again, a bunch of 704 PIC looks better on a resume. Airlines hire future captain, they're not really interested in career FOs. A bunch of PIC time means the person is already making decisions and likely to be a future captain. A mix of bot...

I've never been a manager in any operation. Define awful winter storm? Would slightly increasing prop rpm help mitigate that? Is prop heat really that effective on most of the KA's operating in Canada? This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve read in a long time. Congrats. Please explain Telling peopl...

Re: DEC Jazz
It's pretty obvious, no? If you wanna work at AC, go to Porter, Encore, Perimeter, Wasaya, Inuit, Calm Air, Canadian North, etc. If you are already at Jazz, quit and go to one of the above. FYI, the same applies to Encore flow to WJ. Flow has proven to be a farce to suck people in to Jazz/Encore at ...

Nobody can afford it, until they have to. Some might still leave, but with a 200k salary I am sure a lot would stick around. 703/704 ops can offer really great jobs if they want to (or have to) Lots of scummy 703s couldn't pay enough to keep people at their toxic operation. 200 grand to get yelled ...

Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa
If only there was a standardized way of communicating runway surface conditions. Is it really that difficult for aerodrome operators to update an RSC NOTAM more frequently than once per day? Sure I'm not expecting 24/7 updates. During operating hours, please publish any relevant updates. 8" of snow ...

Re: Transat or Porter?
My simple observation.
Jets are expensive to operate. A fleet of 30 Q400s can't bankroll a fleet of 30 (and growing) 195s. If they were flying around empty jets, they'd have burned through all their cash by now. The expansion is either going relatively well, or they'd be gone. Porter is still here.

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
I hope the Jazz pilots get every penny they deserve from this. I hope it's very expensive for AC management. Expensive enough that they never violate another agreement again. With the way AC has behaved post COVID, I have zero intention of working in their system. That be mainline, Jazz, PAL or whoe...

Re: Any plans for Socialized bidding?
Call it whatever you want. A company with seniority based scheduling rewards longevity with higher chances of the work schedule the person desires. Nobody is out to spite someone else. They just want a decent work schedule that seniority helps them achieve. If socialized bidding is so important, go ...

Re: Pacific Coastal
But I’d suspect that Pasco can’t afford to pay their Saab/1900 pilots 200/yr - there’s just not enough money in their system. And, under the current hiring environment, people would still leave to go to AC/WJ because the lifetime potential is so much greater. Nobody can afford it, until they have t...

Re: New Pay Increase for DH4 Captains
Fastest way to AC is work for Encore Fastest way to WJ is work for Jazz This is despite both entities having some form of transfer system to the respective non-regional side. Flow to their respective mainline is a joke with Encore and Jazz. I thought and was hoping Porter would be better than this. ...

Re: Flair/Lynx Merger
Both companies have a similar business model. They both compete in an ultra thin margin area of the market. They both are short pilots and planes. Flair has experience in the industry. Lynx has more money. There isn't room for both companies to exist with sufficient economics of scale to be viable. ...

Was the friction block worn out, but the operator too cheap to replace it?
Nobody has ever found worn out and useless friction blocks, snagged it for "ground check serviceable".
Not saying this is what happened here

Re: Cheapest possible IFR approach at airport
Would it solve your problem to just get a waypoint published over your aerodrome instead of a whole approach? I'm not sure what that would involve, but it might be possible and if so it would likely be easier/cheaper than an approach. Another poster sent me a similar suggestion. But I don't think t...
