Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
Guess the "key" word on the FA public statement is "legally enforceable". Which is true because WJ Senior Executive can change any wording in any so called agreement any time under any circumstances for whatever reasoning they wish to push forward simply because they are not bound by it. No they ca...

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
Its a bit of fear mongering. Smitty's right, both the flight attendants and the pilots agreements are covered under Civil law. This is not the case the for the pilot or FA "Agreements" at WestJet. WestJet itself acknowledges this is their response to the WPPA Complaint currently before the CIRB. A ...

Re: Why now is the time to go to encore
TECHNICALLY not appointed by the Company but the election process, like all "votes" at WestJet is entirely run by the Company. Cannot be scrutinized by members (or even WJPA). Administered through company webmail. Has statistical harvesting options set by "the sponsor" of these "key surveys" and is ...

Re: WJ pilots reject tentative agreement
Contrary to your statements, the company cannot change the pilot agreement unilaterally without risking a claim for wrongful dismissal. Yes, Constructive dismissal is an argument, absolutely. It is, and your examples are, for INDIVIDUALS. And, although it is possible, it is still rare (even says th...

Re: WJ pilots reject tentative agreement
You are correct. The WJPA is a legal fiction. But it works for me and the majority of pilots. Our employment rules are still covered under the common law of employment contracts and part 3 of the CLC, just not part 1 (the part that deals with unions). I was discussing legal representation following...

Sage advice Bede.
I'm done here and you are right.
Frustrated responses on my part during frustrating times. I stand behind the facts though but I would much rather see the debate on home turf too.

Re: WPPA.ca
Man, the arrogance in your posts is overwhelming. Not surprising though. It's pretty transparent to anyone stuck up front and forced to listen to the "certify" spiel that the WPPA is not about legal representation or working conditions or anything else they yell at their helpless captive audience. ...
Re: WPPA.ca
So what you are saying then is that all your previous negotiated CBAs did not have the collective membership's best interests at heart? It was simply agreements to satisfy corporate direction? You are still confused. You cannot have a Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA) with out certified represen...
Re: WPPA.ca
How would a union (other than being certified) be different from your existing "association"? It's the certification that makes all the difference! The existing "Association" is nothing, legally. Firstly, it's just the 7 pilots who are "PACT Reps"(out of 150) who chose a name one day. Certification...
Re: WPPA.ca
A big reason why the vast majority of guys wanted to get on with WJ is because it's a non-union company. Most of us have seen the toxic and corrupt environment that a union breeds. No thanks. Been there, and never want to go back. What's interesting as well, is the lack of the word "union" by the W...
Re: WPPA.ca
This is a tough one. Everyone wants to see their paycheck increase every year. I would imagine those that chose to max out on the stock program have seen just that over the past year or so. The bigger picture is the 800lb gorilla sitting in the corner. As costs go up..... all costs ......, the oppo...
Re: WPPA.ca
Is no one talking about the elephant in the room that Westjet needs to keep expanding in order to support the ESP, if you have a bunch of employees buying stock with the company matching 20%, the day Westjet slows it's expansion / stops expanding they will have reached a maximum market value for th...

As for the topic of this thread, if someone is refused their "right" to move up to mainline from Encore, what is their recourse? ...

I am sure a really scientific process with absolutely no politics or 15th hand rumours will ever influence that status for anyone.

Re: WestJet earns $44.7 million in second quarter
When WJ launched in 1996, salaries were less than the competition. That situation reversed itself after a decade of hard work. If you think that's why the "situation" reversed itself, you are in need of your own reality check... The situation reversed itself because Air Canada started hiring again,...

And I am not saying that wjfly = wjparesignation . Equating them because they each only posted one and one only post on the same date means nothing, devoid of context. It is unprovable. WJPA is the nickname for the pilots who are part of the Pro-active Communication Team for all employees. Everyone is equal at WJ. Pilots want a lawyer? Call the FA who runs PACT and he'll ask the CSA, AME, Call center lady and Office worker peeps and they can vote, after listening to Company side, t...
