Stephen PENIKETT Obituary PENIKETT, Stephen R. December 20, 1950 - October 2, 2013 After a brief, but devastating illness, we let Steve slip the surly bonds of Earth to fly high in cloudless skies. He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, dry humour, unwavering support, endless generos...

Re: Medevac or Medivac?

Someone once told me that if medevac is used as part of your call sign, Nav Canada fees are waived as you are operating on humanitarian grounds. Additionally, I see a lot of people on this board getting bent about using the call sign, even when the patient in the back may not be a priority, or the a...

Re: Rant..

Not defending your well placed rant, but let's look at the other side of the story. A CC-177 is by no means a light airplane. Simply releasing the parking brake does not guarantee that the aircraft will roll. If you have ever flown heavy category aircraft, you will know that a fair amount of thrust...

Re: Maybe I'm missing something here Re: Medical Validity

Funnily enough, the reg is the reg - however, most AMOs don't seem to agree with the reg - and very often will renew the medical 1st of the 7th or 13th month (as applicable) instead of recognizing the 90 day leeway. and of course, because TC is so consistent from regional office to regional office, ...

Re: Twin Otter count?

Last I heard, Borek owns the CAP 12000 STC, and thus builds and maintains them.

So - they are still available.

And to add to Just Curious's rant - for informational only - there are several more Beech captains in the process of doing interviews at AC and CN - weeeeee - it just never ends. Best of luck to those who apply. I've been here over 10 years, and the lifestyle suits me and my family just fine. Usuall...

I might be stating the obvious, but looks as though lack of post crash fire - uumm - and 3 engine failures - looks as though they may have suffered from fuel starvation?

Re: Request For Info From Monocular Pilots

I heard of a guy who ended up having a brain tumor, which was removed surgically, but consequently left him blind in one eye. It took him a year to get his license back, and his medical was re-issued as "restricted to 2 crew". In any case it worked out fine - he went back to his old job flying Twin ...

Re: Borek Engineer add

I believe that the engineers at Borek only get paid a day rate. The day rate kicks in the second they leave their home doorstep until they return home - the rotations are pretty much 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off - except for odd contracts, and some of the DC3T work - the Antarctic stuff would be 2 mon...

Re: Kenn Borek working conditions, costs and training

The rotations on the DC3T can be a little rough - its more of a single man's game, as some tours can last up to 6 weeks - Antarctic not included. Definitely not for everyone, and they would like to see a few years commitment as it takes a while to get guys trained up efficiently enough to be able to...

Hey mag check

What do you know about offstrip to keep pushing for an answer as to why they did what they did - you're coming across as an arm chair critic - you don't know all the facts -wait for more info before passing judgment!

Have a nice day, dammit!
