Re: Price of 100LL
Diesels only make economic sense for long distances. The fuel savings doesn't make up for the increased maintenance and purchase price otherwise. I'm sorry, I could not disagree more. My WV Golf TDI does not have higher maintenance costs than comparable gasoline powered cars, and at 5-6 l/100km it ...

Re: American license.
Thanks, I couldn't remember if it was a rating or endorsement. For those who have done it, will presenting my logbook at the FSDO be sufficient for the endorsement or would further training in the US be required? LnS. I do not think that a FSDO inspector will give you an endorsement - as the endors...

Re: Conversion of TC - FAA
I went to a commuter airline interview (PSA I think) in 2004 - as a US citizen and resident - and I was surprised to discover 3 Canadians in the group of 10 or 12 applicants. This would indicate that there is a lot of Canadian pilots working in the US. Unless it was a total fluke.

Re: American license.
Alright, so I went to the FAA site, downloaded the paperwork to get the certificate under FAR 61.75 and filled out the vast majority of it. Do any of you guys know what it would take to have a tailwheel rating put on the US certificate? Do I just attach a letter asking for one and stating the numbe...

Re: coming soon...Diesel SR20
I hope they succeed, and offer certified engines for all the GA airplanes. But I will remain skeptical until I see them certified and flying. Plenty of promises of diesel power have been made, and the results, so far, are skimpy (at least in North America). Heck, you can not even get most cars with ...

Re: anyone has a SR20 in Toronto?
Cirrus Forums you can log in as a guest and ask a question in their forum. or Suggest you go to the air partners hangar at Buttonville and ask them. They are the last hanger on 16th - west side of hangar row - they service about 35 Cirrus SR-20/22's on a regular basis and know all the owners. Also ...

Re: CARs downloaded copy
I much prefer the PDF version - http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-96-433/index.html At the top you can download the entire CARs in PDF format. This is the most current version. There is an update coming for Spring 2013. Thank you for that link! Current CARs in pdf format are just p...

Re: CARs downloaded copy
Just out of curiosity, why would you (or anyone) need an entire copy of the CARS at their fingertips? And how often do you plan to re-assemble the volume to keep it current? As a US pilot only beginning to get familiar with Canadian way of doing things, forgive me by countering with a question "Why...

Re: FAA license to CAA equivalent
I am reading this thread because I am also considering getting a Canadian license issued based on my FAA one. Is it possible to download the CARs somewhere? I found and downloaded Canadian AIM but could not find the CARs so far. Same question regarding the study guides - I see them at http://www.tc....

anyone has a SR20 in Toronto?
I am trying to decide on what aircraft to buy down the road - and Cirrus SR20 is on my list. I have never flown it, and would be interested in talking to owners about their experience and seeing the aircraft (preferably at Oshawa or Buttonville as I am in the east end))
