Re: Competing Union
Which one of you doorknobs decided that you were going to try to split a wedge in the pilot group? http://unitedpilotsofwestjet.ca This is an absolute great Idea. $#!T can ALPA and form a useful union. One where all your dues goes to that pilot group. Forget about Mother Alpa in America who could c...

Re: More WJ layoffs
I doubt it. The whole "plan" is to kill the economy as we know it. That especially means the fossil fuel transportation industry. There has to be a massive uprising against this covid nonsense before anything changes. And I don't see that happening in this country anytime soon. omg. Lol. https://en...

Re: More WJ layoffs
I find it concerning the division it’s creating among the groups The primary reason the 4 western LEC voted down the last "offer" was solely based on the unscrupulous manner in which the MEC Chair and the Grievance Chair went around the NC to conduct a backdoor deal with the company. The 4 LEC vote...

Re: More WJ layoffs
Back to the topic:
From the union update this morning there is no deal. PIlots won't see or vote on the last company offer.
415 layoffs and the reduction bid will go ahead Apr 1.

Re: Crickets
Also, not much going on for people to get all internet ranty about but with the end of the moa coming up I figure that will change soon.

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
The 53% wasn’t a vote and it was explained why the decisions were made the way they were. I find it funny that a few keep bringing up the 53% as a majority decision, that was pretty much the “no” vote to unionization 3 or 4 years ago. Didn’t stop the gang from pushing ALPA down throats a year later...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
Not a pilot, but part of an employee group that is extremely busy taking care of the Jets while they are not flying. Here's to hoping other departments do not have to lose more people now that 1000 of you are saved! No need to be concerned about that, the company comes out ahead in this deal.... as...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
What’s the joke! You have the information, does it fucken matter how you got it, ffs, it’s a dynamic situation clearly. Last communication was 1700 layoffs and obviously since then some further discussions have been ongoing, appears they bared fruit and it will take some time for properly worded in...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
The radio silence shows disrespect for the 700 pilots who will be laid-off by week's end, and the other 1000 who will follow, not only to fail to mitigate lay-offs but also to fail to transparently, timely and professionally communicate the facts. Much less would ordinarily cause a recall. Experien...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
My brother was talking to the NC guy from YQT. He was telling him they didn’t want to accept the reduced mmg with a reduced work month in days. Apparently would have saved a pile of jobs is my guess just like it did for us. Then the LEC really has no choice but to support it I guess. Would be a goo...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
From some of the information coming down the pipe I think it is fair to say that some of the company's positions/demands were unreasonable and clearly an attempt to gut the CA and take advantage of the current crisis. They were looking for an easing of scope, either to expand Encore or more likely ...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
Using clichés like "hold the line", "stick it to them" are not negotiation and don't work at all under the current environment and are to the detriment of the pilot group because one supposedly "holds the line" against foreign enemies entering one's home; these are discussions and negotiations amon...

Re: A "NEW" One List?
Apparently certain unions would not allow the pilots to make accommodations by accepting reduced hours (for a period), and hopefully this is not the case here where ALPA for instance would not allow the MEC to entertain certain proposals. How then could ALPA have "allowed" Encore to accept their de...

I stand corrected. I was told there were 30-40 just recently, but your numbers are probably more accurate.
