Re: AME Wages - AME's Unite!!
what would you guys say to 25/hr. Basic benefits, no pension. No OT paid out, only time in-lieu. There is field work avail. but that isnt guaranteed. 5 years experience. 2 type courses. Personally, I am struggling to survive. I live ultra modestly. Havent been on vacation in over 7 years. No new car...

Re: No work anywhere
The problem isn't the lack of jobs, the problem is lack of QUALIFIED people to fill them. Sure you can pay for a type course, but it gives you no real world experience and makes you no more valuable, it just saves an employer money. Prospective employers will see this, as will your coworkers. As a ...

Re: No work anywhere
I am going to do an as350 course and try and land a job with someone who operates astars and bell mediums. I figured I'll get hired with my heavy overhaul and field experience. And time on the astar will pile up quickly.

Re: No work anywhere
. I never went back because they were jerks. You may want to think about that. As a newbie, you don't burn bridges, and you don't get to choose. That can follow you around. Oh I haven't burned any bridges. If you knew my story you wouldn't think Im being choosy. I got dicked around, plain and simpl...

Re: No work anywhere
I know I have to go to remote areas to get work. I have tried believe me. I have an M2 license with all rotary experience. Everyone in the helicopter side wants a guy with a type course. They dont have to take a risk with training. Its just such a shitty time to try and find work because the past ye...

No work anywhere
Is there anyone else out there in the same boat as I am? I got my AME license back in June and was laid off the next month from my past employer. I never went back because they were jerks. Now I have spent the last 5 and a half months searching for work. I have contacted every helicopter operator in...

I have a phone interview with the DOM tomorrow. Good info to know. I dont understand how they expect people to live on that kind of money.
No wonder they are trying to hire like mad these days. Nobody who is licensed wants to work for what an apprentice should be paid.

Re: Can an employer make you sign a contract for an INHOUSE
Its a Bell 212 course. It is in house so this is not through Bell or anything. They got approval to give in house type training on Bell 212's and give ACA's based on that type training. This course is not transferable. It would only apply to the company I work for and as long as I work for them. If ...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
Hey seamus good reply. I totally understand what you're saying. I was more talking about how I am treated and what I have had to go through in order to get my license. As for money, I know there is potential but in the end there are lots of other jobs out there that pay well with a lot less BS. I ju...

Re: Future AME Discouraged
I gradded in 2011 and I went straight into helicopters. I wanted to work on helicopters so that was my choice. I got a job as an apprentice making 13 bux an hour. No benefits, no holidays, no OT... crappy work environment. I told myself it was part of the process in order to get my AME license. Afte...

Re: NSCC AME Course
I went to NSCC-M program and all I can say is we got RIPPED off big time. Other colleges will offer the same material (with better aids) for around 10k. Only plus side is you get an extra 4 months accreditation from NSCC. If the gov is fronting the bill I would take the program. The instructors are ...

Just passed my CARS exam and I need some clarification
I just passed my CARS exam this morning, which is awsome, but now I am a bit unsure of where my license goes from here.... I technically dont have the full Hours requirement accomplished yet. According to my math I wont have it until July. So my question is this, will TC give me a license now or wil...
