Re: ADS-B

Did you read my link? Navcanada is teaming up with uvionics to make a one antenna system on the wing tip. Covers reception from space and the ground. I also think their tail position light would work as well.

I’m waiting for this. I was going to buy a garmin unit but was told to wait. No clear word on diversity.

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

I have no clue what your finances are like. But you might want to try secondary lenders, I’ll get to that in a second. I remember sitting with my banker years ago and saying it’s BS I can’t use per diem towards mortgages or loans. He said the bank will look at it if it’s been more then two years. Th...

Please stop calling it “Sunwing’s”. We only have 1 wing.

Oh and we don’t hire pilots because they took an 8 month course.

Re: Flair cancelling flights

You want a great Canadian company? Huge success story? Sunwing!! Started from nothing less then 20 years ago. Now the largest tour company in North America. I have more bad news for you. Just because you didn’t book your southern vacation through Sunwing, doesn’t mean your not giving them your money...

Your compairing Sunwing to Flair? WTF? Show me the Sunwing cancelled flights to Florida? Actually show me one cancelled flight EVER in 15 years at Sunwing. Were you comparing companies? One of them is the largest tour company in North America with 3 billion in sales that’s 49% owned by the largest t...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

We actually stopped hiring because practically no one was leaving. The only place I can see anyone going is air Canada. You’d have to be brain dead to leave for westjet now.

I have no idea when the next course will be. Nothings been announced

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

As I suspected we’re looking for captains now. Some immediately..for July. Last number I heard was a need for 60 captains internal or external.

Amazing how things change

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

Good question. I suspect it’s a bit of senior FO’s not wanting to have a “bad” schedule and getting last choice of deployed bases and all the hiring that’s taken place in the last few years. Senior FO’s make equivalent of 130-150g and pick their schedules. I’d give it a second thought as well. Lifes...

In fact the upgrade slots weren’t filled. Which might mean direct entry Captains.

Expat Air Canada pilots

I remember reading about a group of AC pilots living in the Bahamas who fought the CRA and won. I’m wondering if anyone has any insight to the tax lawyers or accountants they use to track their flights over Canadian airspace. I recall finding a firm that tracked individual schedules and figured out ...

Re: Lack of Crew?

Thanks for the response grey wolf. I've started asking around. Looks like most companies are starting to feel the pinch. Rudder I've been saying the same thing. If AC wanted to shut down or cripple another company fast all they'd have to do is hire a bunch of their pilots. If AC filled two months of...

Not really. He blames everyone else. Looks like yesterday there was 9 cancelled flights and almost every flight was delayed significantly. There was no weather issues that I saw. Mechanical? I'm sure porter has some spare aircraft around? So what's left, Lack of pilots? Thanks for the article. Looks...

Re: AC in the News Again

As someone who books business class the odd time, I always see people trying to get things they didn't pay for. People just sitting themselves down, or trying to use the forward lavs after the initial PA telling them not to, the curtain pulled across and polite warnings from the FA's. Pax was comple...

Dublin is notorious for giving preference to air lingus. I haven't looked at it closely but I'll guess speed bird was correct. I'll also guess the voices saying the controller was doing a great job were Irish.

Think sunwing eeked out a profit Jim. You can look through the financials of TUI to find out.

Not sure of expansion. Think we're hiring to get rid of costly wet leases but don't quote me.

Shit. Looks like you got CT? I'm not going to get started on that stupidity. Lots of companies hiring. Transat just opened up for direct entry seasonal captains. Sunwing is hiring up to 60. Much better jobs then ggn.

Good luck.

Re: Jazz and a new Air Canada regional airline.

The irony. Sky regional and Georgian drool over themselves to get better equipment from AC all while screwing jazz. Pilots go there, some from Jazz to get a left seat and gain experience at rock bottom wages and working conditions. Now, anyone at Jazz has an 80% flow through to AC with their wages t...
