Re: Skylink Planes

With the exception of one, all the airplanes had KLN90 gps units. Two had Garmin 400s. The KLNs are not very intuitive but once you have it figured out, perfectly adequate. There was plenty more to complain about than the gps when I was there, but whatever feels important to you.

Re: Skylink Express

Depends on the base. YVR sched was particularly good with runs coming back at 1pm-ish or 4pm-ish. YHM and YMX get back later (7-9pm as I recall). There are some night runs out of YHM as well. The pay increased recently, which is a step in the right direction. I spent almost 4 years there. YVR was th...

Re: Air Canada Pool

My thought is to stay put until after the anticipated AC interview. If you get the job, great, if not, head to an express carrier for another chance to interview at AC via the PML. I'm in the same boat. No! I want as little competition as possible for the OTS positions! On that note, has anyone who...

Re: Is College/University Worth it?

Since the hiring portal closed in March/April, I haven't heard of anyone getting the "good" email from Air Canada without a degree. If you're off the street, it seems to be make or break for now anyways.

Re: First Snowbirds Video Of The Year YMJ-YQQ

I parked between 6 of them in Kelowna last week. That is the airport shown before they arrived in Comox, you can see that little hill west of 16. I spoke to a few of them and I think they were coming from Springbank.
Cheers.

Re: AirAsia plane missing between Indonesia and Malaysia

There is a warning given when both sticks are manipulated at the same time, and the Captain doesn't have to say "I have control" or wrestle the other pilot for control of the ship. There is a red button on each stick used to disconnect the autopilot that can also be used to lock out the other stick...

Didn't know them personally but I'm sure I crossed paths with them at the YLW FBO. Thoughts to everyone affected!

Talk about horrible luck for this registration:

Thanks for the compliment Ilya, I prefer it to waking up and slagging everyone else's posts on here. Consider the alternative, get out of school and start instructing? In 2 years, you have a couple hundred hours and you're looking for a job again. Will you get hired direct entry captain onto a twin...

Re: Why so little interest in tailwheel flying?

. The older birds were having frequent maintenance troubles. That is why I chose to rebuild a Cub under the amateur built rules, I will end up with a new Cub that can be maintained by the builder / 'S. Another suggestion is convert a Cessna 150 Aerobat to a tail wheel configuration. I believe they ...

Re: Why so little interest in tailwheel flying?

For Southern Ontario, these guys have been around for a few years now: http://www.3pointaviator.com/ +1 for these guys. I have been a member since 2010 and had the chance to fly the Cub, Taylorcraft L-2 and PT26. I can attest to there being quite a bit of interest from young and older pilots in thi...

Re: Air Tindi Pilot "Hero" for Flying into FRDZ

Someone posted the audio of YZF tower before this fellow's takeoff and leading up to the accident. He was given two pireps, one from a First Air ATR and one from the Jazz -8. Both had departed within 15 minutes of the Tindi 208, and both reported rime ice from the cloud bottom (1500 agl IIRC) up to ...

What is the ceiling for the C models? Those are quite cylindrical.
