Re: Pilot grooming is officially finished!

There never has been any language in any agreement/ contract about grooming.

Re: New Arbitrated Contract

"Document I read says TAFB 1:4." This is the time a away from base Rig, there is also a 1:2 duty rig so 1 credit for every 2 hour on duty. The Min Duty period credit is only while on duty, this is what differs from a min daily credit which applies to each day regardless if your on duty or not. Remem...

Re: New Arbitrated Contract

"If you’re at work, get paid. Minimum credit was the one thing that WestJet feared. No more sitting in Newfoundland for 52 hours with no pay, essentially on reserve for zero pay. No more all day at work for an hour of pay. Minimum credit and duty rigs are normal ops at other airlines, but a huge lea...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

The introduction of the new flight and duty rules, is going to dramatically reduce the amount of overtime anyone could fly making reserve inevitable. Remember someone has to pick up the flying you drop, and if they can't because of the new limitations, it means your stuck flying your original schedu...

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?

I have a problem with the Swoop business model and so does the investment community. I mean your stock doesn't drop two dollars in a day because of a bunch of pilots, it does so because the investment community goes WTF. You talk about a pilot shortage, how about a leadership shortage. We are burnin...

Re: Everyday at WJ : union busting

I'm sorry but I don't believe a separate entity in the form of Swoop is needed.. its a dumb move, and a distraction at best. Within six months time WestJet is about to launch its most expensive and potentially lucrative venture yet as it moves towards its wide-body expansion. If not properly execute...

Re: CIRB Decision

From what I have heard they have all ready hired their first ten off the street hires.. apparently mostly from Cargo jet. Anyone who doesn't think that WestJet won't be able to find OTS pilots to fly for Swoop needs to give there head a shake... you will always find someone, and then once it become ...

Re: Getting Swoop flying back to WJ pilots

I think like Mel mentioned ALPA and the company will eventually negotiate something to keep WestJet pilots flying WestJet aircraft, in the end its probably in everyone best interest. Everyone just needs to get past the politics, and settle down and being negotiating.

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

It's all so very disappointing, it didn't have to be this way. Hopefully calmer heads will prevail and WestJet pilot will operate WestJet aircraft. Once it goes off the street the genie is out of the bottle, and it will be very hard to put it back in.

I think longtimer is right. This is a lot bigger than GS. It's a big company that's just turned 18. like any 18 year old its going through a few changes.

The base MOA was a vote on the policies regarding bases, not the bases themselves.

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize

The thing is a union wouldn't have saved the ports... the company decides where it needs to have its crew.. the pilot organization only aids in helping build the policy. The base conversation was happening for years as WestJet, it was always the white elephant in the room. To say that other things w...

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize

JYSK your right the current agreement has no merit under Canadian Labour law, but does hold up under Canadian Civil Law. The agreement is negotiated in good faith between two parties and is the basis for the WestJet pilots pay and working conditions. This would supersede the original letter of emplo...

Its a bit of fear mongering. Smitty's right, both the flight attendants and the pilots agreements are covered under Civil law.

Since the fall of 2013, Vancouver-based Jetlines has raised more than $2.5-million from nearly 185 investors – well short of the estimated $50-million the company figures it will require to launch service. They have no major investors. so far it appears that no large investors are willing to bet aga...

Although not bound by the same Labour laws as a union contract, the pilot agreement is bound by common law. I think the big thing that Kag is pointing out is thing are looking up in the aviation biz (fingers crossed). So whether you join the teal team or the red team, hopefully the people coming up ...

guys the Min flow is 25% MIN. The flow will increase once Encore gets a bit bigger, and a few more people are there. Just remember this is the only regional in North America with guaranteed flow and one list. Things will get better,

I think your giving Greg way to much credit. Don't get me wrong he a smart guy. but I am pretty sure he doesn't sit in his office figuring out ways to game the pilots. With Encore flow the only thing that was ever mentioned was 1/4 that's it.

For those who want a union, can I ask why ? What are you afraid of? Why do you think it will make things better? And what do you feel the long term affects will be?
