I've heard they are pooling again. A friend of mine waited 5-6 weeks before finally getting a call. That was just a month ago

How many people below you on line did you need to secure a block? Do you recall?

Re: Is pay not as bad as people make it seem?

A few WDOs a month and you can do 50K. Do 3-4 dayers and make loads of per diems. What is this overtime thing you speak of? I still am in 703 world and I work 24 days in 31... There are 2 Ways to earn overtime. WDO's, and going over 85 hours in a monthly block. WDO's are when you Work on your sched...

Re: Entire application process timeline?

Applied in March, phone call mid April, video interview end of April, Sim mid may, job offer the next day.

Medical exam, reference check, crim background check were done between interview and Sim.

Phone call for the sim was roughly 2 weeks after video interview.

Re: New hire bids

Anybody get the inside scoop on the base/equipment from the June 5th class?

And to contribute to the GS class size, I'm pretty sure there's 14 for the June 19th course.

Re: Sim Evaluation

I'll try to explain it. Basically it isn't one single "type" of aircraft. The flight schools website states it can be configured as either a 737,Q400,Crj. This is misleading though, I've talked to friends (who have had CYUL sims with jazz) and personality been to this flight school and seen the Sim...

Anyone have an idea what a/c is used for the YUL sim eval? It's in Dorval at the Centre quebecois de formation aeronautique.

Re: Jazz Experience

Going to a 705 with only instructing time just seems wrong Understandable. But I think they're starting to look into that avenue. Two of my instructor colleagues got calls for a video interview but were unsuccessful. I luckily got through the video interview and just booked a sim eval so maybe I ca...

Re: Recruitment Email?

1500 hours, all piston twin. Good amount of MPIC abd ATPLs written. From call to interview about two/three weeks. Then less than a month to the offer and start of GS. Lots of varying experience here right now so it's really hard to say what they are looking for. Good luck. Is your piston twin from ...

Re: Jazz Experience

An instructor colleague of mine got a call for an interview early Dec 2016. 1800 TT, 700 multi with AA's. All time was acquired from instructing. As of last week, I heard from a Jazz FO that Jazz is no longer calling instructors unless they have multi crew time (according to one of the chief pilots)...

Re: Which school is better? HARVSAIR or moncton flight college

I wouldn't listen to those discouraging the Moncton Flight College because of weather. Every class that goes through MFC has people that finish way ahead of time and some way behind. If completion time was truly weather related, than its fair to say that the whole class would be delayed. I know seve...

Re: Forgetting to do eAPIS

No; you were the PIC and so you're on the hook. You can 'fess up, and hope for leniency, or hope the paperwork never catches up with you. I don't think they can force you to pay a fine if the letter from Ralph arrives, but they'll never let you back into the USA if you don't. Did you fly it under t...

Re: Forgetting to do eAPIS

Thanks for the insight. Does the fact that I am not the registered owner make a difference? Like I mentionned, the school purchased it and I was the assigned pilot for ferrying it. I'm assuming no, but just wanted to clarify.

Forgetting to do eAPIS

I recently ferried a purchased aircraft from the United States into Canada for a Canadian flight college. I am a flight instructor at that Canadian college and had a special flight authorization from the FAA and ferry permit to do the flight. I know eAPIS is for aircraft that cross the U.S. border c...

Re: So you want to be a flying instructor

I might mention that this is really easy, and I don't know how people flunk it. Do a rate one turn. It will take one minute to turn the 180 degrees which will take one minute during which you will descend around 700 fpm, aircraft type depending. Learn the lateral distance from the runway for your a...

Re: how can I improve my landings?

If you're having trouble with the flare and landing too hard, forget about spot landings for a bit and try the concept of hovering your main wheels over the runway as long as possible. When you go power IDLE into the flare, the aircraft is beginning to lose its lift and the onus is on you to control...
