Re: Cameras in the cockpit...

The word “camera” does not appear anywhere in the Aeronautics Act or the CARS. The word “video” only appears in relation to the use of video for cabin safety briefings. You are referring to the CTAISB Act, where it does address cockpit videos for all modes of transport. It does so in the same conte...

Re: Cameras in the cockpit...

Cameras in the cockpit are protected under the Aeronautics Act under the same clause as CVR's. You can sue your employer for accessing that information. It's TSB's property.

FDM is fair game.

Anyone hear of what's going on with the ambulance service contract? The media, gov't and docs have gone quiet.

I'm assuming Perimter has the bariatric kits for the Metros right? Do the Metro's meet the performance requirements? I'm not familiar enough with them to know.

I think it's going to be interesting to see what the bigger international companies come in with.

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

Interesting. What's going to happen? Are they moving to a one operator in the province kind of deal? Wouldn't that be out of scope for this FRP? As far as I know, this is just about the life flight flights, which have a higher level of equipment/trained personell to accept more critical calls in sh...

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

Even with privatization, the government will still be screwing up its own ultimate control of dispatch etc that will lead to even more cost ineffectiveness let alone politicians dictating their delusional ideas of cost savings which will create new threats to aviation safety. ... Even with privatiz...

Re: New pot legislatiion brings on talk of pilot pee in a cup

I gotta laugh. Everybody has their shorts twisted around their private parts because of a dried up frikin plant. You would think we are in 17th century Saudi Arabia, where they still chop hands off for stealing a loaf of bread. The root crime of the bread stealers is the horrible condition of hunge...

Re: New pot legislatiion brings on talk of pilot pee in a cup

I personally don’t really see much of a problem with Joe having smoked a joint last week, just as I don’t care about that pint or two Bob drank last week. Disclaimer: I'm not a medical professional so this is based on me asking some docs and me parroting the reply as best as I can. Alcohol clears t...

Re: Westjet goes ALPA

I've worked for union and non-union employers before. In my experience the union served a purpose initially. But the relationship between employee and employer became instantly antagonistic and good-will became a thing of the past. Trust eroded, bitterness grew, and by the time I left, all forward p...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

I agree armchair. If you watch the YouTube videos of TC sitting in front of the Ontario government, one quickly realizes that TC must have been in full panic mode post accident. The conspiracy side of my mind thinks that TC and Ornge must be somehow fighting the report to the bitter end because they...

That probe, with no sign of a report, is now the longest-running aviation accident investigation in Canada.
Seems other investigations are wanting access to the CVR.

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

going on 3 years later they are still providing the guys with a Phase 11 in Moosonee  If what helijay says is all true I think I'm starting to understand why we don't have a report to read yet. It wouldn't be hard to figure that TC would be very excited about this report coming out. So maybe...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

Did some searching (I've never heard of phase 2 either). Controller.com shows this Sikorsky S-76's AFCS as being "Phase II". Is that what you are referring to helijay? What's the difference between phase 3 and 2? Was the Mossonee accident on a phase 2 S-76? http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraf...

Re: Ornge faces 17 labour code Charges

I dunno why, but this whole story has really interested me. I've been following it closely since the Moosonee accident. I watched the video of TC in front of the government committee and I am baffled as to how they didn't suspend their OC when it was discovered that their night training was inadequa...

Re: Ornge faces 17 labour code Charges

After all I have read about this organization, I'd suggest that the only reason TC hasn't shut them down is due to the POSSIBLE liability of shutting down an entire province's air ambulance. Read the Standing Committee Report. My jaw dropped on more than one occasion. http://www.scribd.com/doc/22757...
