The bigger the wallet.. the bigger the mess.

Re: I'm glad you can't fly

I think aviation has gotten short end of the stick since 9/11. If business (aviation/ non) was booming.. fair enough. But the reality is business is just starting to recover for many ... in the wake of the last recession. To take another hit .. may be fatal (business wise ) for some.. Is that fair?

Re: I'm glad you can't fly

Oh yea, 7 years to plan alright... The ISU also had 7 years to plan... from what I hear the system is horrible. Tons of bugs, trigger happy F18 pilots, and the ISU can't handle the volume of plans to name a few issues. How can we have our stuff in order when the government agencies keep on changing ...

Re: Share your Olympic travel experiences :)

Problems with connecting flights, shuttles, baggage not getting to airlines etc and general confusion. I've heard Auth. number's are headaches... apparently auth numbers were sent from a previous day's flight as opposed to the current day .. the flights couldn't take off as it would require re-appli...

They don't have any king air's. Maybe he's confused and thinks the C205 used for glacier tours can be modified .. LOL I think he's going to sub contract the me-evac contract to another operator outside the Yukon. I hope the Yukon gov't tries to keep the contract in the Yukon employing residents from...

Re: MEDIVAC Bids for Yukon

So what is the contact is geared towards ALKAN? * I don't know if it actually is as everyone claims* Alkan does more than an excellent job. All of the crew, pilots, mechanics, ramp, management etc is VERY geared to excellent service.. Alkan definitely delivers and then some... Why should someone who...

Re: Tips

hey, I know the feeling. If you can.. try and work the ground at some spots that will get you into a seat.. Either that, or work for an FBO that has companies coming in and out that you can fly for. Companies will see how you work.. and you can see how they operate etc. Its very aggressive networkin...

Re: What's up in Vancouver?

MTW, x2.. The gameplan seems to have a tad of fluidity.. Good for DND tho LOL.. The biggest peacetime militrary operation at the taxpayer expense.. (expense includes jobs, freedoms etc.) Do the CF18 drivers get to log the time spent sitting at the end of 12/30 with engines running 24/7 for the three...

Lost Lake, I don't quite see what the problem is? The pay is half decent? They didn't say the job required a pilot? This employer is simply offering a spot for a low timer, a pilot in flight school or someone on a layoff to make some $. I do similar work ... and I don't feel that it is beneath me. A...

Re: Bird Strikes- Scenario

Felix, Good topic.. I've heard if the bird looks like its going to collide on option would be to lower your head slightly below the instrument panel to avoid getting smoked by said bird/ gunk. * this is just something that someone told me* I can see where this may be difficult to do operationally.. ...

C170.. check yer PMs Felix, Agreed. However, I think we should both focus on the people that do care.. (few and far between) maybe we can both keep from getting cynical and disgruntled. (Yes, I know, I started it) At the time time, yah, people are pigs.. and I'm sure those we just discussed are idio...

Re: WestJet emergency at YVR

Wow, Read some of the passenger/ misc commentary " his ass should be fired (the captain)", " pilots made a poor decision", " I didn't go to Hawaii that night" .." what a poor quality airline" " it makes no difference where the pilot made the landing. (YVR or HNL)" Makes me wonder who we are flying.....

Re: Fatal Airline Flying No Accident in Pilot Complaints to FAA

Extremely good but yet disturbing read.. I'm sure I am stating the obvious here.. but.. I wonder if there is any major correlation between recession and airline safety/ pay decline. It would also be interesting to see if the working conditions return to pre-recession standards or if its a slow but s...

Hello, In case you frequent this site.. I would just like to thank the crew on AC 57 (correct me if I am wrong) for getting my family and others back on the ground safely this evening after the YVR birdstrike. Yes, I realize that we are trained for this.. However, it doesn’t change the fact that you...

MTW. Good to hear. I think things have begun slower than normal. (maybe I am wrong?) On another note, pax loads have picked up since my last post.. so there is a Christmas rush after all! Do they still have that 72 hour notice charter restriction for you guys during the Olympics? I think movement wi...
