Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt

I’m curious why most post they’ll feel bad if flair goes bust. Maybe I’m to black and white but my thoughts are your working for a company not servicing debt at current ticket prices undercutting legitimate airlines and associated employees. Bye It doesn't matter what I think of Flair as a business...

Re: New interview process

They will do a phone interview initially. Then they will ask you to come to Montreal for an interview. They do not offer a flight which is ironic since all other airlines in Canada do. After the interview there is a compass test and psych test. They will also do a medical. Great things are happenin...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

How many are they hiring this year? Keep hearing different numbers... i did my interview early december and I was told about 600 more by the end of the year. I would expect ground schools to run every two weeks for the foreseeable future. Typically, ground schools ("PIT courses") consist of anywher...

Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale

What an arrogant comment. Fortunately for the industry, you have not been chosen to look after hiring at any company and I hope it stays that way. Hopefully no one will have to endure long flights with the likes of you. God help them if they do. Imagine thinking you know anything about of group of ...

Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale

Honestly, what type of pilot is taking a job at SkyLink in today's hiring market? I feel the same way about pilots who work at SkyLink as I do about those who stayed on with "Pivot" after Air Georgian closed up shop - that is to say, there has to be something significantly wrong with either your per...

Re: The E2-B NIW Visa Thread

It has to do with a country on the other side of the world has free flow agreement for pilots. While the large economic and cultural bloc that is Canada and US does not. That there seems to be so kind of back door deal to stop a hemorrhage of Canadian pilots leave for better WAWCONS. Which would re...

Re: The E2-B NIW Visa Thread

Soooooo…. Australians can go to the US and work but we can’t but we can go to Australia and work? Not sure how many times this needs to be said, Australia and the United States have a free trade agreement in place; a section of said agreement stipulates that Australian pilots may obtain ...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

What exactly is this medical done by AC? Extra stuff on top of class 1 you do? Pretty similar to a standard Cat 1 medical, however, there are a few additions. They will draw blood for various blood tests (complete blood count, glucose levels, cholesterol, etc. - pretty standard stuff). You will als...

Re: What’s the over and under this dude keeps his job

Putting aside politics for a moment, anyone who thinks that this fella is getting his job back, or even a payout, is delusional. Everyone who gets hired at Air Canada signs a code of conduct ("Corporate Policy and Guidelines on Business Conduct", in case you want to look it up). I will quote from th...

Re: WestJet Suspending Flights Between YYZ and YUL.

WestJet suspending flying between YYZ and YUL, while Air Canada drastically reduces its flying out of YYC, to focus on YYZ, YUL, and YVR. Good ol' Canadian "competition" hard at work. With both airlines hurting for pilot labour, it's no surprise that they're staying out of each other's way - better ...

Re: Air Transat Ascension Academy pathway program

Like the Flair pilot program and the Jazz Approach program, I just don't understand who the target market for this type of cadet program is supposed to be. How many 17/18-year-olds have access to $160,000 to pay for such a program in today's economy? Even with assistance from the bank of Mom and Dad...

Re: BEWARE $30,000 BOND FOR 3 YRS

I dare Transat to increase the salary up to 100k/y 1 st year. I guarantee no one will leave for AC then. I'm not sure if you're being facetious, but pilots from many companies from Canada and all over the world are still leaving six-figure jobs to come to AC. I did it, most of my colleagues in my P...

Re: Having issues with Medical?

The Civil Aviation Medical Examiners have a direct line to contact Civil Aviation Medicine in Ottawa which is not available to the public. Certain folks from TC will deny that this exists, but that is untrue. Had an issue with my medical a couple of years back - I would call the receptionist at my C...

Re: Air Canada vs Air Transat

From a financial standpoint AC is an absolute and utter no-brainer at any age. 1 year to 200k+ NB captain. Pension contibutions are a lot better at AC, and deductions are much lower so take-home is higher. The only advantage at Transat is that you'll never do 4 leg a day NB flying, you work maybe 2...

Re: How to build PIC/CX while an FO

Many years ago, when I was just getting started out in my aviation career, I was working at an airline that had a 703/704 division, as well as a 705 division. An opportunity came up - I could leave the small northern town that I was living in, and transfer from my 703/704 FO position to an FO positi...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

How many classes per month can we expect? As summer is approaching, do they freeze classes until the fall? Just got the background check last week. Interviewed mid February. Medical 1 week later. So technically anything from 2 weeks to a month I assume to hear back after the background check is com...
