Re: Buying your own plane: Calculation?
I have a 90hp cub that I use on floats and skis. Anual cost to run my plane is hardly noticeable. I spend more money on my boat and vehicles. It was completely rebuilt 2 years ago, about 45k total. Insurance paid for 3/4 of that. I do most maintance myself including change over from floats to skis. ...

Re: Amateur Pilot Floatplane Options
I change mine every spring and fall for free! It's not a hard task by any means. You just need a tripod or a front end loader or something to lift it off the ground. A change over only takes an hour for me.

Re: Ski equipped Aeronca cable failure
Not much can be done when the front cable breaks, which is rare because you have the cable and the bungee. Land as slow as possible with the wing with the failed ski as high as possible and hold it as long as you can. With a thirty kt wind a champ should be barly moving forwards at touch down. If th...

Never mind 172's. Why are 50 year old super cubs with no avionics going for a 100k. Tube and fabric piper products are unreal what some sell for.

Flight 531 ywg-yyc
Thanks for the good ride crew! First time I've flown on a 737, good experience. 39,000 and 400kt is a little different ride than 2500 and 100kt in the old dhc3. I've been flying bush for many years on all types of bush machines but first time in big tin!
Thanks again

Re: One-man train crews banned
A load of grain would make a bit of a mess but the town would still be there and not look like an a bomb went off. In other news cp put 7 tanks on their side in lloydminster ab this past weekend. I do not know details of the incident but don't think much was spilled. The same day in southern ab near...

Re: One-man train crews banned
With a single guy working, he's not going to crank on 25 hand brakes then walk up and test to find out that he needs to walk back 25 cars and crank on some more. So.. a two (or more) man crew IS safer. There's no limit to human laziness Absolutely a 2 or more man crew is safer. It's essential. Ridi...

Re: One-man train crews banned
Somehow bylaw officers in major cities can immobilize vehicles with a simple mechanical device, but an entire rail industry cannot physically immobilize parked wagons on a steel track? Surely they have methods beyond such archaic devices as air brakes? Here are things they should enact : - movement...
