Re: When flying is your second career
It's definitely a one fits all kind of industry. I remember flying with a captain up north that was a big shot lawyer from Toronto dealing with corporate litigation and acquisitions and had spent 1 year on the ramp. Unlike other industries that credit you for past experiences relevant or not, I'd sa...

Transport in our last audit cited us for upgrading our GPS to include more functions without snagging anything in the log book. This is our second offence, so next time it will be a fine. I love that their cracking down on companies trying to improve their aircraft and make their operation safer. W...

Is that all the info you're going to give us? And BTW there is nothing wrong with a 300hr pilot flying a Navajo as a captain in the mountain. I know of a few guys back in the day who did that as their first job, they are all flying heavies overseas now making a great living. It just seems wrong beca...

I'm making a point. Everyone is crying about ppl not screwing other ppl in this industry by getting a type rating or PPC when infact they are doing the same thing by accepting crap wages. 23000GDP is $45,000+ to fly right seat on a Dash 8-400Q. I dont think thats poverty wage. How many of you made t...

If you are living in London for sure but most of these guys are in smaller places like Southampton and Birmingham. Living in Toronto or even Vancouver is way more expensive even if you're in the surrounding suburbs I got them off of Airline Central. And these were the basic salary. FlyBe's I got off...

Jazz is the ghetto of Canadian Aviation
Was talking to a guy presently flying a Dash 8 for flybe for the last 3 years making some good money, especially since he graduated from aviation college and got hired onto the Dash 8 immediately. Went to check out and compare Flybe's salary scale to Jazz's. These are all base salaries BTW, Flybe's ...

Dont give him $5k for a PPC, go to your nearest flight school and pay $8k for an instructor rating, either way you look at it, you gotta pay for your job if you're low time. Funny thing is, the flight school you do your instructor rating doesnt guarantee hiring you either, and good luck finding a jo...
