Re: New maintenance contract

WJ maintenance is currently relying on AME's working overtime. If they would refuse overtime, then operations would be severely impacted.

Re: Westjet cancelling flights due to cold in Calgary

As an AME in YEG, I was day shift last week during the COLD snap and dealing with the Blue/Teal and Orange head starts. If you check the historical lows on Environment Canada WX site for YEG, we had a low of -45.9 on 12th, -45.3 on 13th and -45.1 on the 14th. The Boeing AMM requires heating when oil...

Re: Importing a NON Airworthiness Aircraft

I have looked this up on the MDRA webpage in the past with an RV-4. It HAS to fly a minimum of 100 hours in the USA before it can be imported up here.

Aircraft Maintenance Type Courses

Where in the CAR's do I find when an aircraft requires a Maintenance Type Course? Piston helicopters = no course requirement, turbine helicopters = individual course. I have an individual course on the Boeings that maintain. Is a course required for a Cessna 441 or King Air??

Thanks!

Re: Strike

As a 15+ year AME at WJ, I watched the executive team announce the merger with Sunwing. My take on watching this is that the team leading this once great company are a complete bunch of woke losers who couldn't manage a lemonade stand! Once I saw this team, I realized this company is DOOMED if they ...

Re: On-Line License Renewal

I renewed mine Nov 25th. I had to update my Adobe on my computer to be able to read the online PDF form. It also took me a while to figure out the digital signature on the PDF form from the website. Once I figured that out, I paid the $40 and got my proof of payment. Emailed both items and I receive...

So cabin crew is getting paid when you are waiting 30+ minutes for ATS to bring you in at YEG??

Re: China Eastern 737 down

I watched a YouTube video and the claim was that the ADSb speed is GPS ground speed. Therefore, if the plane is almost vertical, the ground speed will be WAY lower than the actual AS.

Re: Anyone got a paint job done recently?

I painted my first plane back in 1985 and have done many more since. What aluminum prep process do they use? What type (make and type) of primer? And what are they using for the topcoat (make and type)?

Re: Pfizer Covid Vaccine shows 90% effectiveness.

My guess is that anyone who can pass an aviation medical, probably will not have a severe outcome if they catch this? I finally know some folks that have this. Both are late 50's. One got an extremely bad cough and shortness of breath, she is getting better on her own. The other friend is reporting ...

So once we get a shot. do we no longer have to wear the stupid fu@#ing mask?? Do we get a tattoo on forehead to show we have the shot? I'm considering going to Hawaii in January and seeing if I can pay for a shot.

Re: Is ICS course enough for tech exam?

The ICS course IS the Jeppeson books. Most of the apprentices that I have helped study for their exams have used the Jeppeson material and passed the exams. You will needs to get the CARs for the AME book to pass the CARs.

Re: Maintenance on my own aircraft and I'm AME

Like mentioned above, junk all of the old, HEAVY radios. Unless you plan on flying lots in the winter, because they use so much power that they make great aircraft heaters! The most important avionics these days is a modern 760 channel comm radio and reliable transponder. With awesome apps like Fore...
