Re: Dreamliner Down in India

the last thing i would want to entertain is a suicidal pilot. the last thing india wants is the news of a suicidal pilot. so it's all about politics, blame boeing in this case. pretty sure they are combing though their staff in the back room so this does not happen again. Reminds me of the 737 cras...

Re: Dreamliner Down in India

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crmex7912nro The court said it was "irresponsible" for the aviation authority to suggest, through leaks to the media, that pilot error had caused the disaster. But the findings of the report have been challenged by aviation safety group Safety Matters Foundation, wh...

Re: Dreamliner Down in India

The FAA issued Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) No. NM-18-33 on December 17, 2018, regarding the potential disengagement of the fuel control switch locking feature. This SAIB was issued based on reports from operators of Model 737 airplanes that the fuel control switches were instal...

Re: Dreamliner Down in India

The aircraft would give you many warnings when thrust is pushed forward and the flaps aren’t selected. Perhaps incorrect WAT numbers? Perhaps dual engine failure on takeoff? Perhaps flaps retracted too early? Some other pilot error? Why was the gear not retracted? The FDR and CVR will tell the story...

Possibly no radio altimeter? Makes it more difficult to judge the flare. Copy of Flight plan below mentions this.

Looks like they hit hard on the right main and it collapsed.

Terrifying ordeal, it’s a miracle there were no fatalities.

It will be interesting to see what the flight data shows.

Hope there are lessons learnt and won’t be repeated next time. Should be able to vote without any fear or threat from the government. Fair bargaining only happens when the government doesn’t make threats of back to work legislation and takes sides. Labour negotiations need to change so that votes ar...

Re: Pilot unity will get results

Typical divide and conquer. Sad that just overnight the unity is now in question. What happened/was said by the company to spook the union? Understand the company only needs the pilots to vote 51% in favour, so obviously there was pressure to bring the TA to membership. Be interesting to know if the...

Re: Strike lanyard

Was this definitely a 6/4 split on the vote? I heard that the union MEC chair said the vote was an unanimous YES. That sounds more like 10/0 vote. Not sure where you heard that. That's false. This was the breakdown of the votes: YUL - 2Y YYZ - 3N YWG - 3Y YVR - 1Y 1N From the MEC chair words at the...

Re: How will you spend your ratification pay?

Now you can spend your money on discount flights. Obviously there was more money left on the table for the pilots if the company can afford to offer 25% discounts on tickets. https://nationalpost.com/news/air-canada-flight-discounts Air Canada is offering new deals for customers after the possibilit...

Is it really more money? Or is it just money moved from profit sharing and shown as a “pay raise”? Is it really just cost zero?

Better be a World Class Contract or I’m sure it will be back the drawing board for them. 4 years is longer than I expected but it gives the company some stability.
Hope it truly recognizes the pilots worth and fixes QOL issues.

Re: Want American Salaries? Move to America

That article lost all credibility in half a sentence. "The cost of living in the United States is generally higher than it is in Canada...". Pretty sure everyone knows that isn't true. Cross border shopping is pretty common because goods are cheaper. Taxes are lower. Sure healthcare is a lot more, ...

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.

Where are you seeing this 39% figure? 2024 pay scales show AC captain NB at $214 per hour. E2 captain at $190. Maybe there are newer scales? Even if porter is now higher than $190, I doubt it's $295 which is approx the 39% you claim. 39% uplift from $190/hr is $264/hr. Porter E2 captain tops out at...

30%… 20% only and then 10% over 3 years. According to Forbes, AC made 1.6 billion last year and are a top 10 biggest public airline company by revenue. No reason to offer such low amount. Pay your pilots their worth, they helped make the company profitable. Air Canada and United Airlines, both one o...
