Re: VFR Placement Question
I'm curious to know how they decide who goes where. Is it simply random? Is it based on skill or ability? Do they take personal preferences into account?

Thanks for the reply! I figured there must have been some form of information. Of course, being experienced certainly allows for easier and faster understanding.

Memory while listening to messages
Just listening to a number of the audio phraseology samples supplied with ITA. Of course a number of the messages require a read back which contains a fair bit of information. Do controllers simply retain all the information that is being said or do they have aids in doing the read back. Some of the...

Communication clarity
From time to time i'll listen into live traffic. I don't know if it is because i'm listening on-line, but I find it VERY difficult to understand anything people are saying. It's almost if the audio is muffled.
Not a comforting feeling haha

Re: IFR Pay Scale
Is there anyway to access the collective agreement if your are not an employee yet? I'd love to have a look at it! Not sure when I become an "employee" so that I can get access to it on the website.

Re: NavCanada Application
It really depends, For me, initial application to getting streamed IFR took me only 4 months. And now I have been waiting for a course offer for 13 months. 5 more months and I will have to re-apply. I had only 2 months left before I got my offer! Although now there are some medical concerns t...

Re: NavCanada Application
..the process from initial application to course offer can take anywhere from 9 months to 2 years. . While that's certainly within the realm of possibility, I think there's an effort in place to try to streamline the application process and only hold testing sessions when there is a need for course...

ITA clarification and support
Is there anyone/anywhere to get support/clarification on questions you might have about the material in the ITA? I started doing my course a little over a week ago and I'm trying to understand their answers to certain questions about the airport circuit.

Re: Application Process Samples
Thanks everyone! It has been one very very long road, so i'm happy to see it finally coming to an end. I was only a month or two away from timing out so this was essentially my last shot this time around. Course starts at the end of Sept. They didn't specify which tower (YQX/YYT) we would be headed ...

Re: Take Charge site glitch - candidate photo
It is interesting though that NavCan runs additional testing intakes when presumably they have plenty of able candidates already in the pool waiting. My understanding was that when they run an intake, it is because they need qualified candidates. Well what about the individuals who are waiting? I've...

Atlantic job opportunities after training
Looking for some general advice on job opportunities in Atlantic Canada after receiving licenses and ratings. I've been mulling the idea of getting my commercial license for sometime but I'm just not familiar enough with the career prospects. I'm currently in NL but will likely be relocating to NS a...
