Anyone in YEG region willing to answer a few questions?

Well, after 4 years of applying, expiring, applying again and nearing the end of my candidacy, I've finally received an offer for VFR starting Nov. 5. I'm in the YEG region, and I'm wondering if there are any users out there in the same region who would be willing to answer a few questions for this ...

Re: Anyone in YEG get a call for spring 2018 courses?

steely...Congrats on your call too by the way!! That's excellent news. Seeing that you got your standby offer on Mar 13 (and I only got mine on the 23rd) I am assuming I only got selected to go into the standby pool only because someone backed out and you got bumped ahead. :D So congrats on the call...

Re: Anyone in YEG get a call for spring 2018 courses?

Nice! Unfortunately I didn’t get any specifics in regards to if I was a first alternate. Any number of things can happen I suppose for someone to be out of the course but don’t want to get excited too soon. I’ve already expired once and this is my second time in the pool so there has been a lot of u...

Re: YEG Applications process

I think it was May 22nd. Like I said I don’t expect it to turn into an actual offer this time around, but at least it’s some action. But I guess you never know.

Re: Anyone in YEG get a call for spring 2018 courses?

Received a standby offer for May VFR course in YEG today...Not sure how often a standby offer turns into the real thing, but hey, it's a start.

Re: Anyone in YEG get a call for spring 2018 courses?

Well that's positive news then! Might be something to look forward to still. It's very tough to get solid information, but everything is based on operational requirements, so I suppose they can change very quickly with internal transfers and such. And I would imagine there would have to be enough ne...

Thanks and the same to you YEGYYCATC! Perhaps we will be fortunate enough to get an offer in the spring. Best of luck to everyone in the candidate pool.

Re: YEG Applications process

Just checking in to see if anyone has been contacted for a second interview. The suspense is exhilarating. I've not heard anything about an in person interview as of yet. It's only been about 6 weeks though since my phone interview and green light. Last time I applied it was about 10 weeks I'd say ...

Candidate Selection Process

Hello all...I'm in my final 6 months of candidacy for ATC. Just wondering if ANYONE knows anything about the selection process in this regard...Do they choose you for course placement solely based on your score? (i.e. I assume after all testing and interviews have been finished they assign you a "sc...

Has anyone gotten a call for an IFR Gander course this fall?

I'm in the Gander ATC candidate pool and I'm in my last six months of my second application. Just wondering if anyone on here may have received a call for an IFR course that might be starting this fall? Last I heard there MIGHT be an IFR course for 2016/2017 that might start as early as November or ...

Re: Anyone trained for ATC in their mid to late 30s?

Well that's great to hear. I myself am not conflicted about potentially starting in this career at this age, but wondering if NavCan was. I hear in the US they don't accept anyone after the age of 31, not sure if that's true or not. Thanks all!

Anyone trained for ATC in their mid to late 30s?

Just wondering if anyone has started ATC training in their mid to late 30s. I am curious if other people have had the opportunity to pursue this career in this age group. I'm right there and I'm in the IFR pool and I'm starting to think about what NavCan might be thinking of when reviewing my potent...

Re: Has anyone on here timed out for training?

I am in Gander FIR first off. And if there is anything actually scheduled on the books recruitment will tell you about it if you ask. I knew about the IFR from my interview so I called to ask her if they that had been filled. She told me it had. But at the same time I asked her if there was anything...

Re: Has anyone on here timed out for training?

Well I've only passed my in person interview in September 2015, so I'm not going to freak out just yet. But several people have been chosen already to complete an IFR course at the end of this year, and they've chosen a whole class of VFR as well from the pool. So therefore I know that I am not one ...

Has anyone on here timed out for training?

Just wondering how many candidates are actually "timing out" for training once passing the final interview. I know realistically not everyone will get a call...but I'm just pondering if there is generally a high number in the pool that ends up timing out, instead of getting a course offering.
