Re: YYZ RJ landing Accident
Gee, why is my dog going nuts every time I open this thread? Oh, that's right, he goes bananas for every dog-whistle he hears, including those sexist or racist ones that only identify the blowers' insecurities. And since we are at that point in the show where we start pulling statistics out of our a...

Re: Camp Picton Airbase for sale
Picton Airport is permanently closed as of January 1st, 2025. Prince Edward Flying Club was kicked out of their clubhouse and hangar last June. Soon enough the runways will be removed and replaced with housing.

Re: Expat Flying
Oh shit, this should be good. What does Flair's management think Porter is failing at? Have they hired Realitychex to 'consult'? Are they jealous of being able to get some substantial investment capital that isn't on the shady side? Or are they just trying to poison the well to keep those on the fe...

Re: Expat Flying
What constitutes a stable job these days? Is Transat Stable? If you listen to Flair's management Porter is a failed business. Hell, Flair's been going gills up for 20 years now according to the interweb experts. Unless you work for one of our Duopoly carriers, you're probably not stable. Even at th...

Re: It’s Time - Back on track
Clearly, our FOAG or what ever the new name it will be called is looking out for the company and based on the abysmal benchmark looking out for themselves. None of the options given to rename the FOAG document (Flight Ops Admin Guide) and committee (Flight Ops Admin Group) stand out for me. They ne...

Re: It’s Time - Back on track
It's been a month. FOAG 2025 is out. Judging by the other thread, it doesn't seem like a warm reception. How's the temperature on the line? As you can see from the other thread, in the virtual world (AvCanada, WhatsApp), the temperature is hitting the red line and threatening to blow up. In the rea...

Re: FOAG 2025
From what I can see, you’re 100% right in terms of how things have been handled. The FO’s are now being told “well over the last TWO benchmarks you’ve made 30% gains” and to stop complaining essentially. Having an “oversight” on the year 2 rate as well as not even bothering to adjust the scales to ...

Re: FOAG 2025
My biggest concern is someone is going to make a career decision based on the loudest voice in the room/chat/flightdeck which might not be what is best for that individual. There still seems to be some confusion floating around on the changes proposed that are muddying the waters. If someone is thi...

Re: FOAG 2025
Porter seems to be a really good place to work. Most of the Porter pilots I bump into enjoy it. The opportunity and hope that comes with an expansion, and a management team that wants to do well and fix operational issues. However, given that they didn't notice the e2 pay cut. They had to have the ...

Re: FOAG 2025
I can appreciate E2 FOs being disappointed. I think more of them planned on trying to make a career at porter than most people give them credit for. But considering how comparable this pay scale looks like vs the 220 at AC, where they'd get seniority quickly as the 220 pilots start upgrading onto a...

Re: FOAG 2025
Is the FOAG always this full of errors? Perhaps it's time for professionally supported contract negotiations. Fewer errors and loopholes to be exploited. I wouldn't say it's full of errors, but professional negotiators would definitely help. FOAG committee members still work an almost full schedule...

Re: FOAG 2025
Looks like they have corrected the pay cut for 2nd year FOs and matched the 2015 CPI amount at $101.50 going forward. So the hourly rate increase is flat at 0.0%. Still some pay cuts rate-wise in the later years of the E2 FO scale but hopefully that is fixed before anyone reaches that. ALPA will fi...

Re: FOAG 2025
I’m pretty sure alpa could have done better than a $0.50 hourly pay cut for 2nd year FOs. But hey what do I know. That's a claim. Mind showing your work? Math checks out. I too suspect ALPA can do better than a pay cut for FOs, a further degradation of reserve rules if we pick option 1, and a pinky...

when they're already dismantling and calling the vacation award language for people with 15+ years of service from last year a "mistake". Sorry but can you expound on this? I'm not sure what you're referring to. Sure thing. - FOAG 15, last page, Vacation Allotment for Years of Service between 15-19...

Re: New low time pilot, looking for tips.
Unless things have changed in the industry lately, nobody cares about your sim hours and you should not count them towards your total time. The only chance they might have any weight for a job would be for an instructor at a school that relied heavily on training in an FTD. So less emphasis on your ...

FAKE NEWS!
(Technically there was a night between the two events; Sunday night it was getting new brakes and wheels installed from the first off-roading.)
And there is a thread here discussing the second one: Cargojet slide off the end of 08L at YVR

Re: Flying Corporate after age 65
My point was that I learned that American 65+ pilot flying Part 135 in the US are allowed to fly into Canada by Transport Canada, while Canadian pilots 65+ flying for Canadian 703 operators are not allowed to fly into the US by the FAA. Have a look at the Transport Canada Foreign Licence Validation...

Re: Hiring Process & Content
They have the lowest paid widebody captains in the western world, making less that a third of a UPS 767CA. I don’t think they can be picky with their hiring. I’ve heard they’re very picky. Need to know someone internally and have a type rating on their aircraft to get hired. Plus absolutely NO King...
