Re: Anyone split PPL at Island Air and CPL at a different school?

Having been out of the training for the PPL stage a long, looooonnggggg time, my comment is worth less than what you paid for it. Keeping that in mind, it doesn't look like Island Air offers a CPL program (probably not a registered private career college), so you would have to go to another school i...

Re: Springbank Customs?

Haven't cleared since it switched to CANPASS holders only so not sure what the fee is. You will have to call the airport - (403) 286-1494 to see what they charge. Will probably be cheaper than your other alternatives. CBSA has an online directory listing what services are available: Directory of CBS...

"Lost my rag" is a British and Australian informal phrase meaning you suddenly became very angry or lost your temper. It describes losing control of your temper, often unexpectedly, akin to "flying off the handle" or "blowing a fuse". - Cambridge Dictionary

Re: E2 FO hiring

Hello Is Porter looking to hire E2 FOs for the remainder of the year and 2027? How much do FOs fly in a year? Are the newer FOs on reserve or can hold a block? Thank you! The latest from the company was no outside hiring for 2026 but I suspect that won't be (and probably already isn't) the case. I ...

Re: Anyone else seated in the hiring pool, chilling?😛

While the Pilot Career Center is a great source of information, you shouldn't base hiring trends on it without verifying with a second source. It appears that the majority of the job postings are data mined from other sources, some of which haven't been updated. For example, the Porter pilot positio...

Re: Anderson Air

If they actually have 3 pilots per airplane, there should be a schedule that avoids the old ways of 'retro' days off. And stop trying to compare how Air Canada does it. It's apples and oranges. No apples and oranges about it. If you can’t plan to day drink… it’s not a day off. End of story. The app...

Re: PAL Airlines - CYKF Base

This doesn't appear to be Air Canada flying, as it will be the Classic Dash (100/300) based in YKF, unless AC is getting rid of the bus service to YYZ. Wondered if there was a Georgian/Pivot/Great North connection as they are based in YKF too flying the same equipment.

Not sure what the issue is but if anything, you need to separate the Job Board from the rest of this pile of donkey shit.

Re: Jet stream down

Pardon my very limited bush experience, but is it considered normal ops to fly fast after take-off to blow any residual snow off the wings? Wouldn't the ability to get off the ground mean that the wings are providing enough lift at lower speeds so you managed to cheat death? Swept-wing jets can get ...

Re: QOL in Cargojet besides poor pay

Regarding the original question, the QOL in terms of scheduling is that it's basically a part-time job with only 15 days a month worked. A bunch of these might be reserve, and there's a pretty even mix if overnight & daytime flights. Let's not start promoting the idea that 15 days is considered a p...

The fact that you are coming onto a public forum to ask a very basic IFR question is concerning. I don't care enough to go looking at your post history to figure out if you are working at a 705, but I truly hope you aren't. If you are truly that clueless on what to do in this scenario, you should b...

Re: BA versus YYZ controllers

It's an example of controller burnout, and unfortunately, it is happening more and more now. You can hear it in the voices of many controllers all across Canada. They are tired and their fuses are short. Put aside the politics and opinions on how it's gotten to this point; we, as professionals, need...
