If it were Air Canada the choice would be easy. But an operator flying old B727's, as well as starting as a second officer (FE) on 30000CAD should make the decision somewhat easier. Especially that with Your present income You probably could affort obtaining an instructor rating. This would allow You...

Cat Driver, flying those things pays the bacon. The fun flying is done on small se.airplanes in my free time(paid by those things). But I still love the first 10 min. and last 10 min. of handflying 744's. Sim.checks-recurrencies can be fun to.

work for money fly for fun

As a career-pilot I have always loved going to work . On my days off I enjoy flying my small plane. Yes, times where somewhat challenging in the beginning of my career but more than worthwhile going through. No matter which airplane from small single engine to B744, all are a pleasure to fly.

I totally agree with bue side up. If You have the right to work in Europe and the desire to obtain JAA ATPL licences, then Europe has good employment/income prospects for Pilots. Yes the flying was fun in Canada but the pay was unacceptably low. As time spend in the right seat one can generally stat...

The original question was ,what kind of income does one need to own/maintain an airplane. I remember seeing ,a few years ago in a COPA newspaper, an average income of aircraft owners in Canada being mentioned as 90000CAD. Canada is still one of the few countries were airplane ownership is feasable. ...

You do not need to be a Pilot to work the ramp. If You are young You'd be better of studying and then look for a pilot's position.
