Re: 10 year agreement with pilots

The company gets a stable workforce for 10 years and can get better financing on jets. From what I'm told.

Re: Air Canada Rouge to expand to Vancouver, Calgary

I had a flight from Florida to Toronto this spring with air rouge. We watched the pilot And two stewardess get out of the plane to do the circle check. Pilot had on Safety vest girls didn't. Then we watched the girls jump up into the engine Intake compartment and pose there as the pilot took pictur...

I didn't think there were any reinstatement rights for YYZ EMJ FO's as they all moved on voluntary reductions. Nobody was ever forced off therefore no RIR.

Re: Commuting from YEG

It can be done. Would mostly have to do day before commutes so you can count on losing another 3 ish days a month assuming you're yyz or yul base. 16 days of work plus another few days lost commuting gets you close to 20 days away from home a month. If you end up reserve at mainline you only get 12 ...

It's a low cost carrier, for the company... not the passengers. Or guests if you're an owner.

Re: To be a pilot or not...

They probably didn't mention how unhealthy flying is for you in flight school did they? More than a few chest x-rays a month worth of radiation flying in upper flight levels. Crew meals loaded with sodium. New studies showing how bad jet lag and shift work are for increasing your cancer risk etc. Si...

Re: Air Canada Pool

B787RP should be a new hire position. I think what 2green was referring to is that they won't just take anyone with a CPL, it will take some years before getting a chance of being hired. Anyway, back to the pool info. This shouldn't be a love/hate thread for AC. I really doubt 787 RP will be a new ...

Re: Canada Jetlines

Isn't the Road To Hell littered with good intentions? I wish Canada Jetlines all the luck in the world, they'll need it. (been there done that, it's seriously hard work) Taxes and fees alone alone will kill the thing. Question: Why are you guys comparing a US carrier (Spirit) as well as other US pa...

Chances are pretty high it will be Rouge 319/767 YYZ.

YYCFLYGUY Lower pay, but way better schedule... and well worth the trade off...... Quite happy with the Rouge conditions. I could be reserve FO on 320..... (was for a bit) and work 18 days.... or 10-11 at Rouge for 300 bucks a month less take home. OH... and a fair share bid.... To me well worth th...

Re: Rouge rosters?

Hi all, Can anyone answer the expense question? Are crew meals provided for daily turns or expenses paid? How much can you expect to get on the 319 monthly? Thanks! Buzz I looked at the Dec 319 Rouge pairings and all the turns show 0 for expenses. I am guessing they give you meals. Only one pairing...

Re: Rouge rosters?

Ahhh yes. Once again we fall back to the "They were going to outsource those routes" and the "We are lucky we didn't lose all that flying" mentality. We had a scope clause that prevented that. Period. Do you really thing that CR "allowed" us to have the flying out of the goodness of his heart? He i...

It took me five and a half years from my first solo until I was on course at AC. So with a bit of luck and hard work I am sure you could get there around 40.

Re: Low Timer, not complaining

A lot of companies will state requirements of 1500 hrs like Canadian North, WestJet and Air Canada. In reality they hire folks with much higher time, 3000+ hrs. You could try North Cariboo, Central Mountain Air or Sunwest for ramp jobs in YYC. They all seem to be about 2 yrs on the ramp right now. O...
