Re: Line-up With Runway Edge
By the tone and surprise in a few of these comments it appears likely there's a gap in recognizing US runway marking, lighting, and construction requirements within the AC150 series at the FAA are uniquely different than the requirement set forth in TP312. Big topics of difference include: - the run...

Re: Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine
Ben, Photofly is correct - it's doubtful anyone here can reliably (and accurately) advise on eligibility. The best thing you can do it educate yourself on WHY a C.A.M.E. may say/do/inquire/etc about any current or past conditions. Have a look at TP13312 (https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/publications...

Interesting Garmin has that SB... but it doesn't appear to be consistent with the Alberta incident where where both airspeed and altitude were retained throughout. Garmin trying to mask something?

Re: Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine
Six months after passing a kidney stone I reported it on my CAT1. The CAME hardly raised an eyebrow on it - simply asked if I had any reoccurrence since; and since there was not he stamped my book and we were done. Four months later TC Medical in Ottawa sends me a nasty-gram demanding a CT scan and ...

Re: Masters of Science in Aeronautics - ERAU
Hey sjatana, I'm currently in the process of completing that program in the online format. The easy answer is: there are a lot better elsewhere. Unfortunately, I figured that out too late. I am continually frustrated by the school's lack of quality in the course material, and instructors that are in...

Re: Crows Nest CYYT
Greetings from YYT. Some of you may be familiar with the Crows Nest club in downtown St.John's. Perhaps you dropped in for a pint on a layover. The Crows Nest just celebrated its 75th anniversary and is still going strong with record membership in spite of Covid. We actually just reopened on Novemb...

Irving and Cooke Aquaculture FltOps
Does anybody have a contact within the flight departments of Irving or Cooke Aquaculture? Don't worry..... I'm certainly not looking for a gig. I'm in search of information to use during negotiations at my own company.

even if I had the money: if it Flys, Floats or F@%ks, then it's cheaper to rent by the hour.

I've always been of the opinion: do your instructor rating at the FTU in which you'd like to work when you're done.

Re: PAL
Just about all of what's been said is correct - pay is at or a little below the average, and the TT required is quite varied. However, guys that get on with low time have paid their dues in ops or on the ramp. Otherwise a good option is getting in at the yyr base flying the coast. Unfortunately, it'...

ikarus: thanks for an honest answer. I'm not exactly sure what was said for anybody to take "personally" since my question was quite general. Since you sound like you know a thing or two maybe you can answer some more: any idea what the benefits package is like concerning health, dental, life, rrsp/...

Re: Interviews
Similar to flyinggirl I've just been invited to an interview as well. Question is, should I even bother with it? Without a doubt it'll mean a pay cut based on what the gal told me over the phone, and you don't find out which base you're going to until (aprox) the second day of ground school. Those ...

American approach ban
Had a quick conversation with a controller as he switched me onto a pretty quiet frequency early this morning about his understanding of our approach ban. Mercury XXXX was on his way into my departure airport around midnight. Vis was down around 3/4sm but he said he couldn't accept the approach clea...

Nortont: be in the right place at the right time (just like anything else I guess).... but have 1750 hours to get in the right seat on the king air. VERY rare to go outside the company for the Caribbean gig. That's the only advise to "align" yourself.

Just got offered a f/o ride on the 1900D. I know enough about the company and ops but can anybody say something about the Blanc Sablon base?
