No damage but they had to change all 4 tires on the mains before she flew home. I was there the day after when the repairs were underway.
The turboprops stop great on icy runways, and yeah, the airport was not staffed when they arrived is what I heard.

YVR taxi accident
https://bc.ctvnews.ca/plane-collides-with-barrier-before-takeoff-at-yvr-1.6501791 I think it was at the intersection of Hotel and Lima. Nav Canada says they notified pilots on July 21, but I didn't see anything about Hotel being closed between Juliet and Victor in the Notams when I was taxiing for d...

Re: Socata TBM Crash in Alberta
I'm pretty sure if the same accident would have happened in a King Air or a PC12 (or any other turbine powered aircraft), the 3 degree thing would still have been mentioned in the same way. To be clear, you think the dividing line between fussing over 3.9° vs 3.0°, and not fussing, is purely becaus...

Re: Socata TBM Crash in Alberta
3 degrees is both optimal, and standard,... I guess my question is, why is 3° optimal in a TBM but not for a Caravan, or turbo beaver? Or maybe it is? How about a Piper M600, or it's piston equivalent M350? 3° would be really weird for a visual circuit in most single engine planes, wouldn't it? I g...

Re: Socata TBM Crash in Alberta
The accident report takes the position that a 3° approach is optimal for this aircraft: At this point, a descent path of 3.9° would have been required to cross the threshold at 50 feet AGL; this was significantly steeper than an optimal or typical descent path of 3°. it began to sink below the opti...

Re: Why do twin piston aircraft not have a barber pole?
On the 1900 Vmo is there to prevent the tips of the props going too fast. With the exception the the lightning i can't think of a piston twin with props near the size of a 1900. That system is stupid anyway-using altitude as an analogue for temperature and no consideration for actual RPM. I'm pretty...

Re: Perimeter Shamattawa
When the height of the snowbank exceeds the height of your wings, it might be time to start refusing to land there until better snow removal infrastructure is put in place. I know that at certain airports, there are strict rules governing snowbanks(perhaps someone could give the details). I wonder ...

How'd they get to FL240 before the light came on if the bleeds were never turned on after takeoff?pelmet wrote:

My thought is to stay put until after the anticipated AC interview. If you get the job, great, if not, head to an express carrier for another chance to interview at AC via the PML. I'm in the same boat. Cheers What should one do regarding Regional job application if you are still waiting for the pho...

The leading edge of that half of the stabilator is bent 90 degrees at the root end. Also the trim tab does not seem to be attached at the trailing edge.

A/C has been tested to 105,000 hrs without failure Therefore, the time to onset of WFD for the wing, fuselage, and tail structure is determined to be greater than 105,000 hours with a high degree of certainty and greater than 50,000 hours (the goal of this program) with a very high degree of certai...

I don't. 15000fpm = 148 knots.cncpc wrote:You'd think it would have to be at full power and vertical to do that.gimmepars wrote:TSB says this aircraft dropped 1500m in 20 seconds, which works out to a decent rate of just shy of 15,000fpm.

Pilots names were released by the coroner's service today. I knew the captain from the flight school where he trained dispatched and taught. Last time I saw him was at Carson's FBO in YLW on the day of his upgrade ride last summer. Good guy. RIP. http://www.castanet.net/news/BC/137692/Killed-pilots-...
